If it's itchy then perhaps it's just a reaction to a soap/hand cream/washing powder or something new you've come into contact.. what about plants/flowers handled any of them this morning?
Try a topical soothing cream after rinsing hands with cool water and pat dry to see if it alleviates it.
Of course it may be an immune response to something... been feeling unwell lately?
if you have ruled out all the above then i can only think that its a divine response to past and present sins like wot scipio said an yer goin straight ter hell fer that one.....lol
