De Tunnel

I had business to travel down through the tunnel at around 4:30 this Friday afternoon and onto the N25E.

There was absolutely no delay at all, just like driving during the pandemic.

Was only a matter of people getting used to the new lane set up down there.

The Green Party plan to put a toll of €2.80 per trip through the Dunkettle Interchange when it is completed will ensure that many vehicles will divert off the N40 and into Blackrock, Douglas, and the South City Link road to cross the river in the city centre. Very few people will pay a toll of €5.80 a day to get to and from work. And unfortunately there are no local public transport services operating through the tunnel. Cork Connects goes from Little Island to the city centre.
Purely out of interest, but at any stage did the Green Party object to the Dunkettle upgrade in the first place, considering it was always going to facilitate an increase in cars on the road?

Wondering if even the Green Party are THAT batsh*t crazy at this stage? Disruption to commuters for years, multi-millions spent on the infrastructure, all to be a white-elephant that's avoided because it's been tolled? It's not a Public-Private-Partnership as far as I know so there's no promise to the megawealthy of a cash-cow afaik.

Eamon Ryan and the Greens have committed to “road charging.” Even projects that were approved, such as the M20 Motorway between Cork and Limerick have been scaled back. As long as there is a Green Party minister for transport you can forget about major new road projects.
All the local Green Party activists have to do is come out and say: “we have no plans to toll the Dunkettle Interchange.”

That’s all they have to do. Yet they refuse.

Why is that?

Yeah, the local Green Party activists are sure to respond to Mr Infodemic on PROC making up lies, all because he didn't understand English. A very worthy nom this year, well deserved. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Anyone can share the map of current road markings? Had to go "full Glanmire by N8" when going to Little Island from Rochestown :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
