As I drove onto the new slip to Little Island (coming from the tunnel), a cherry picker was just exiting the road, looked like there was works on the wider part of the M8 structure happening above.

Picked up one of mine in bishopstown and back to Mahon through city to avoid it. Absolute madness, getting like China now

Don't worry about that - Eamon Ryan is going to sort all that out and by 2030 there won't be enough cars over there to take up even four lanes

The Green Party plan to put a toll of €2.80 per trip through the Dunkettle Interchange when it is completed will ensure that many vehicles will divert off the N40 and into Blackrock, Douglas, and the South City Link road to cross the river in the city centre. Very few people will pay a toll of €5.80 a day to get to and from work. And unfortunately there are no local public transport services operating through the tunnel. Cork Connects goes from Little Island to the city centre.

Wondering if even the Green Party are THAT batsh*t crazy at this stage? Disruption to commuters for years, multi-millions spent on the infrastructure, all to be a white-elephant that's avoided because it's been tolled? It's not a Public-Private-Partnership as far as I know so there's no promise to the megawealthy of a cash-cow afaik.
