What an absolute hellscape. The money would be far better spent on projects promoting active travel, walking, cycling and of course bus lanes to accommodate the electric buses of the future.

Well that is the offical date, if that is so then Sisk will make very little from the project, so their aim is to get it finished long before that date.
And the days of being optimistic about timelines are long gone.
Much better to give a late completion date and when finished "early" you just say "Oh look at us, aren't we brilliant, we're months ahead of schedule".

No man. We get Dunkettle sorted AND we get the money from the EDG for the rest of your shopping list too. This is Cork, remember.

Ah fuck off you.

Us motorists will continue though to pay out in taxes for your tree hugging, day dreaming and unused cycle lanes.

You can say that.
But how would Sisks PR look if that project does go beyond the expected completion month ?

Is it all still on track to be completed by May(?) of 2023? Hopefully once it IS finished it'll immeasurably improve traffic flow through the tunnel - no more traffic light controlled roundabouts with their stop-start-stop again clogging up what should be (hopefully) a smooth flow.
Be prepared for the €2.90 toll payable each time you go through, courtesy of The Green Party. Dan Boyle and Oliver Moran should proportionally toll the cycle way otherwise they will look like anti car radical green extremists.
Do not vote for The Green Party.
