De Event Centre

I agree. If you made that carpark a park you'd have access to it from the Grand Parade right through to the event centre site and new library and plaza. You could even include the old Henry's site and potentially link up with Tuckey St and Bishop lucey Park. A thriving large green space in the centre of the city. It would be fantastic.
It would be nicer than any other area in the city, to be fair.

So long as they made it look like a park like, with grass, and trees, and plants.

That's the worst suggestion of all tbphwy. Go to Cardiff and you'll see the business and hospitality benefits of having city centre stadia and event centre.
Docks
Tramore valley etc
Anywhere where ppl coming into the city can leave their cars and get bussed to the event centre
Makes no sense whatsoever to build it city centre

Joking me ?
No parking whatsoever in there
I work across from it during busy tones and it’s a bottleneck
That's the whole point, no parking ! Or at least if they do, then they'll need to use car parks/P&R. The vast majority coming to it would be availing of public transport, and walking to the venue, stopping off at the bars & restaurants in the city centre, giving business to a city centre that has been hollowed out, as well as rejuvenating the immediate surrounding areas of South Main Street and Barrack Street.

By going to the Docks/Tramore Valley you're doing nothing for the city centre, while taking people away from current and future restaurants/bars/nightclubs to effectively make it a economic sink, rather than an economic generator....you're just going to go there and then get the hell out of it after the event, which is what already largely happens in SPUC.

What a weird thing. we finally have a public amenity people use to get exercise and socialise and play and people want to build on it.

Same for those people who want to build on the Astro next to the Pairc..The one kids of all ages actually use routinely.

There are fucking massive sites idle all over the place with warehousing or retail premises sitting rotting and you want to push for building on our parks and leisure space.

How about they gut North Main Steet Shopping centre and build it there. It even has a multi story car park if you want to hold onto that.

I have no issue with the Bam site, it is ideal from a number of perspectives, the owners are the problem. The idea that this would be built anywhere other than the city centre is just daft. The whole point of these developments is to bring life to the city. Doing it on a currently derelict site would be another positive.

The only issue I have is Bam, their business model seemed to be to hold the state to ransom.

if it doesn't get built there no way should they get planning for anything. Fuck em

That is the most sensible proposal. I always felt Rochester stores would be great location and easier to convert due to shape of building but overall nms would be fantastic.
