De Event Centre

I scoffed at the idea of visiting the Carlsberg brewing museum in Copenhagen.

Then I discovered it was included on some visitor's card that we had and the young lad serving pints at the end of the tour didn't seem to give a single fuck about his job. He just kept topping up the glasses.

We got shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiithoused.

For free.
Heineken in Amsterdam was like that once upon a time work away for 40 mins or something.

When I went back 10 years later it was two glasses.

Some people spoil all the fun

I remember getting a tour of the Beamish Brewary and yer man let us into the counting house Bar, but there was no barman available. it was a work away for an hour and a half or so job.

Valentines Day 2005

Fucking feeding time at the zoo. Straight over to fast Eddie's.

I've been a loyal Beamish drinker ever since.

Best. Day. Ever.

Just burst out laughing in work as I remembered the other thing that happened.

One of the lads in our group managed to spook one of the dray horses that Carlberg have for towing their old-timey barrel carriages.

My buddy burst out of the vistor centre - STEAMING - and started roaring the intro to "Jackie Wilson Said"

Diddle dah dah dah - diddle dah dah!

Horse went mental - so did the lad in charge of the carriage who tried to give our pal a clatter with the horsewhip and all.

What the fuck are you on about now?
The event centre site and the counting house building are two seperate sites adjacent to each other. The current library isnt fit for purpose or to put it more plainly is a steaming pile of shite.
Youve got an amazing new building in need of a tennant and perfectly suited for turning into a wonderful modern library. On top of that its in an area that has been revamped recently and a library will breath life and purpose into the area.
In short it's a wonderful idea.
As for the event centre? If it's not going in that site after all then a nice green area by the new library would be the job.
We live in hope.
just make the whole lot a park, including the carpark across the road, Cork is Grey AF.

I'm sure this happened to one of the lads after the Amsterdam tour too.

Different circumstances mind

Been on the heineken tour twice about ten years apart. exact same experience as mentioned. had the two day pass for copenhagen. was a toss up between the zoo and carlsberg. ffs. stoopid animals.

Shut your hole ya clown

That’s what I’m on about now. The people running this town literally couldn’t run a piss up in a brewery…incompetence abounds.

Do you work for the council by any chance? 🤣
The only answer is you running for the council m8. We need your dynamism and inability to tell the difference between the counting house and event centre site to save us all.

I agree. If you made that carpark a park you'd have access to it from the Grand Parade right through to the event centre site and new library and plaza. You could even include the old Henry's site and potentially link up with Tuckey St and Bishop lucey Park. A thriving large green space in the centre of the city. It would be fantastic.
