DANGER HERE! George Hamilton Has Heart Attack

Hope he is ok and recovers to get back to the day job. Don't think he is that great to listen to myself, but he is totally bearable, and by far the best from the RTE/TV3 selection. To sum up, he is a good commentator, not a great commentator.

Given the memory of a previous crucial Ireland-Soviet encounter in Hanover it was probably better for George's own health he didn't do last week's game in Moscow. It would have been a continual high-pitched stream for the 90 minutes of "oh, danger here" every time the Russian's attacked, which was pretty much every minute.

Hopefully he recovers ok and fingers crossed is available to cover Ireland's games in the European Championships next summer, 24 years after our previous appearance in the tournament.

He is a terrible commentator.

Dont wish him any ill health but if i never heard him commentate again i would be happy.

FFS just before Protasov scored in 1988 he had been banging on about Pakie (I'm a twat) Bonners record in the number of minutes clean sheet. Don't wish anyone ill health like yourself, but Hamilton's a pain in the hole, particularly back in 1998 when he kept pronouncing Jaap Stam as Juup Shtum, he was trying to show off and made a complete langer of himself when it was pointed out to him that in Holland he was known as Jaap Stam

I've been wonderinng where he is alright...George is a part of our heritage at this stage. Definitely no Irish game feels "right" without hearing his voice. I can't believe he's nearly 60 though. The depressing thing is that when he retires there's no one good at RTE to take over. What the fuck are we going to do when Bill John Eammon Liam and George are gone! That day isn't too far away now I'd say.
