Cyclists

Our limey neighbours don’t have a written constitution.
They don’t have a constitutional right to privacy.
Now that they’re no longer part of the EU, they don’t have to comply with GDPR.

Happily, since we forcibly ejected them from most of our country we are now free to make our own laws, in conjunction with our EU partners.

Anyone who collects data about you must have your consent. If they store that data in a computer system they must register with the data protection commissioner as a data controller.
Should they upload and share such data without your consent (onto a publicly available medium such as a social media platform) they may be breaking the law.

Anyone who feels that their constitutional rights and GDPR privileges have been breached should make a formal complaint to the data protection commissioner.
No need for solicitors, or legal action, just make a formal complaint against the individual who posted identifiable data without your consent and the DPC will do the rest.

This may be useful if you do not wish to be part of someone else’s “content.

Note: In Limeyland, like on many other issues, the legislation is totally different. Those poor Limeys don’t even have a written constitution, and of course, one cannot take legal action against the sovereign.

In this country, the people are sovereign. Some misguided content generators who are “influenced” by our Limey neighbours are under the mistaken impression that they are operating within the law by posting personal identifiable data on a public platform without the consent of those featured.

Jank claimed there was anecdotal evidence of bikes at 40+Kph stopping quicker than cars, we've yet to see any such evidence, anecdotal or otherwise. And that 23 meters for a car to stop doing 30mph (unusual for a report to mix metric and imperial distances but I digress) must include reaction time. I've reasoned previously that there would likely be a slightly longer reaction time with a cyclist but let's assume they're the same, are you seriously going to try tell us that a cyclist travelling at 40 kph would stop shorter on two skinny tyres than a car with 4 correctly treaded tyres, without the cyclist damaging himself and/or his bike and/or others? Seriously?

There is no need for any cyclist to be travelling at that speed imho unless they're in an actual race in a cordoned off road. Imagine if a rabbit was to suddenly emerge and him doing 40kph
I would argue that cyclists are more in tune with their environment, not being stuck in a metal box. In car ads, all the adverts advertise how quite it is inside in the cabin, a cyclist is out in the open with no obstacles around them, ie no pillars or roofs. A cyclist can see an awful lot more than a motorist too, therefore leading to quicker reaction time.

Also, now most modern road bike come with hydraulic disc brakes. With a bit of weight shifting on a bike and using your front and back breaks effectively, a skilled cyclist could most certain stop quicker than a car at 40kph.

Many people often referred to as “west Brits”
have been calling for some sort of portal where people can upload footage of behaviour they believe to be illegal here “because it works so well we n England.”

Such a charter for busybodies, content generators, amateur photographers and wannabe Gardaí would be totally illegal here in Ireland.

The modus operandi of the Brits historically has been to divide the populace of territories they conquer and encourage touting.
800 years of their colonisation has created a distinct mistrust of rats, touts, and squealers in the collective psyche of the Irish people to the extent that such a charter for busybodies would never work here, not to mind being unconstitutional.

No distractions? FFS Chicken John cycling at the 40Kph was doing his usual with his cameras and presumably watching for rabbits.

Seeing a lot more than motorists do doesn't necessarily lead to quicker reaction time.

Does Chicken John have those aforementioned Hydraulic disc brakes on his bike? He certainly doesn't have a bell on it

Take JG out of the equation, the average cyclist doesn't have the camera tech that he has. And lets be fair, there's far more distractions in modern cars with their "infotainment" systems right in front of their faces and being protected from the outside environment in their "quite" cabins, not forgetting rampant mobile phone use.

A cyclist can most certainly see and hear more than what a motorist can.

Has the lycra loony defamed people on this PROC thread on his righttobike twitter feed? I wonder if Jank will have a word with him(self) :ROFLMAO:

Do you think I am joking Soundman?

Courts take a very dim view of this and at worst those behind the accounts are always aired out in public.
