Agree, however a serious lack of enforcement with regard to legal requirements by all road users.

I roll my eyes when, as per recent days, AGS say they will be out in force over the bank holiday on road traffic duty. They should always be on the case. A dedicated, for-profit private company enforcing the rules might be a solution in the same way that they tidy up illegal car parking.

Was driving up past Carroll’s Cove in South Kirry recently. They’ve a good cycle lane on the left. I was in motorised traffic and there were two cyclists on our left. Approaching a Yield sign at the and of their cycle lane the two of them kept peddling furiously despite there being a number of cars travelling in the lane they were supposed to yield to.

They didn’t even look - just kept on peddling as though it was their god given right to emerge out into traffic and the traffic needed to take evasive action.

C*nts like them give cyclists a bad name.

Had one of them at Albert quay a few days ago. Went straight thru the red bicycle light when I was turning left. I knew she was going to do it so I stopped. I’m going to buy an air horn.

There is another very dangerous cycle lane just up from MTU. For cars needing to turn left onto Model Farm road they have to cross over the cycle lane. Complete cognitive overload for the car driver concentrating on the busy junction ahead. Worse for anyone who wouldn’t be aware whereby they would barely register that moving into the left lane is hazardous.

I would imagine the cyclist has the right of way considering it’s their lane. Very dodgy layout imo.

Absolutely. I drove that way a lot when my mother was in hospital so I got used to watching out crossing over, but once or twice at the beginning I plain didn’t register it.

on my cycle this evening of around 35 km after work i reckon i saw around ten cyclists break the lights.. most of them done it pretty cautiously( still wrong i know) but a couple just flew through....
