Cyclists

It's very manipulative behaviour to use a tragedy like that and present it in that manner.
I dont agree with him posting that either but of course it isn't at all manipulative to blame a cyclist that was rolled over twice or accusing a woman blown off her bike as coming home from the pub.
As least try to be honest and consistent instead of being a hypocrite.

Wank you truly are one deplorable individual bringing up that case.
Anything at all to prove your point.
You sicko

It may be more thought provoking than manipulative as it destroys the mind set and myth that all cyclists are "Lycra clad middle aged men out to create the maximum inconvenience for other road users" it also demonstrates the vulnerability of cyclists of any age in lawful usage of the road network.
If such a post does nothing else but create more tolerence, patience and care by all road users Cyclists,Driversand Pedestrians it may lead to a reduction in RTA's and in particular fatal accidents.

Who here, or indeed anywhere, even suggested "that all cyclists are "Lycra clad middle aged men out to create the maximum inconvenience for other road users"???

When people deliberately and totally misconstrue what's actually being said in order to try to undermine what was actually said it's not a good look imho.

I'm a middle-aged(?) cyclist myself, and know plenty of others, who don't cycle without due care and attention for other road users. Nor do we wear lycra (though I do get the chafing thing for wearing certain shorts) or use strava or ignore traffic lights or cycle the wrong way up one way streets.

Plenty of cyclists use their bicycles as a convenient form of transport, not as some kind of statement of who they are. My car doesn't define me nor does my bicycle nor my walking shoes.

See the following post from Sat @3.47

Because those cyclists who don the Lycra and are so utterly inconsiderate of other road-users are a type - seem to think they’re taking part in the Tour de France or something 🙄

As another PROCer put it - they’re part of the BELLYton.

Yes - those who don the lycra and are so utterly inconsiderate of other road-users are a type.

Is VERY different to "all cyclists are "Lycra clad middle aged men out to create the maximum inconvenience for other road users" - surely you can see that?

One is an ignorant subset of the other. In fact the former are an ignorant subset of the lycra wearers - pal of mine wears lycra, 200+ Euro helmet, blue-tooth gear change etc, he's not one of what one would term the Bellython. My brother-in-law has a bike that cost more than I've paid for a number of cars over the years - he too wears lycra but understands and observes the rules of the road

But there are guys out there, the likes of that janker from Carrigaline, who seem to think the rules of the road are for others, and that their donning of lycra imparts on them a cloak of invincibility - it doesn't

Its thrilling to hear you have such salubrious Family and Friends, their observence of the Rules of the Road should not be seen as exceptional but as an example to others.

I wear Lycra and have done for many years, I dont consider that it any more than sport appropriate and understand that it does not offer protection in event of a RTA or indeed invincibility when cycling.

Im sure Jank can speak for himself with regard to his post however I reiterate my point that the Road is a shared space and that all users must show Tolerance, Patience, and Respect towards each other in order to reduce RTA's

Cycling shorts have a padded arse in them for good reason, so if you are out for a decent distance on the road bike, you need that padding or you will pay dearly regardless of whether you are racing or not.

But as Mattie would say, you already know that

Mamil defends his gimp suit. you said you commute to work via bike. Is that a 'decent distance'

In fairness - built in padded @rse can be a good thing. But don't go all Kim Kardashian 😜
