Saw a cyclist the other day on the hard shoulder on the ballincollig bypass, madness

I see them regularly on that road. Mind you, it could be the same guy each time. Very dangerous when he’s passing slips. But, I suppose he knows better than us all.

I saw a cyclist on the runway at Cork Airport last week, he wasn't even wearing a helmet.

Had he just landed? Or was he taking off?

Those construction vehicles can be a nightmare in the city. I was driving down Grand Parade last week from the Mall, and a construction guy just stepped onto the road in front of traffic and held it up to allow a machine onto the road, almost caused an accident.

Real conundrum here for the old reliables as it's White Irish cyclist v brown immigrant motorist but also credible restaurant owner but also comes with previous convictions for other road/motor related incidents.

I saw this one the other day and it pissed me off to be honest.

The cyclist is obviously a WUM looking for a confrontation, but unfortunately yer man was stupid enough to take the bait. The cyclist reached into the car, took the keys and flung them away. The keys were never found, which seems to have the makings of a theft charge against the cyclist…but clearly the judge thought otherwise.

Moral of the story is if some cyclecunt tries to get you to wind down your window or get out of your car and indulge in an argument, ignore them for your own sake.

Gotta love the mess being made on the Midleton to Whitegate road. 2 new bi-directional cycle lanes on either side of the road. Thats 4 cycle lanes where there was none before. No bus lane, 3 separate unsynchronized set of traffic lights a mere 25 meters apart. A hair-pin turn created entering/exiting one of the large housing estates on that road forcing all traffic to a stop to allow a vehicle to make the turn.
The main road has been narrowed so much that truck drivers need to exit their cabs, tuck in their wing mirrors and twist signposts on the poles at a 90degree angle so that they can pass.
The kicker….NOT ONE BICYCLE on it this morning during a warm sunny rush hour. Millions spent on this and all the passengers on the bus scratching their heads as to why they are not moving in the traffic. Kids late for school.
During the protests recently, these brand new bicycle lanes were used to park oil tankers (in a holding pattern) waiting to access the refinery. Now the people who live on that road have got the idea, they are following suit and now the son or daughter is parking the car in the bidirectional lanes (where once their original parking spot sat) when they are calling into mammys house. They actually take the time to weave in and around the black bollards on the footpath in order to neatly park the car right on the cycle lanes.


4 fucking cycle lanes. 4 like. And nobody using them.
