Cyclists

Saw a young lad last night, about 20, approach a footpath on a scooter with 3 inch wheels. I’d say he genuinely thought he was going to mount the path due to a combination of tyre pressure or an advanced suspension system. Neither of these things happened and he faceplanted instead.

I think we need to start separating between leisure cycling and day to day transport needs of commuters using bikes.
We don’t allow rally cars to race on public streets 365 days of the year so idiots cladded up to the gills in Lycra in virtue signalling dick measuring groups pretending they are in competitive cycling tours need to be consigned to designated tracks.
If the group of cyclists that were happened upon were merely Joe soaps on the way to work, trying to earn a living, then they have to do what they gotta do to with the shitty infrastructure in place to put bread on the table.
If it was a group of insecure clowns racing each other, well…..
If you were going for a 100km cycle, what gear would you wear?
A pair of jeans and runners?

Its very noticable that there is a subtle, tyrannical but insecure thought process here where some folks want to police what others wear in public.

Lads, it's not the 1930's anymore where the Parish Priest tells us what to do and what to wear. You missed your chance to live in a puritan, strict, and draconian society.

Ban lycra (cheap plastic clothing) and most of em would disappear. Cosplay of the highest order - they think they are Sean Kelly and such like.

Ban what someone wears in public. You must be a lovely, happy person deep inside. Why does it bother you what someone else wears in public?

Why should we take the opinion of someone with knee-jerk right-wing authoritarian views on the matter?

Could you imagine being prosecuted for driving at 24mph? The UK seems to be becoming a draconian place to live in, and the type of populus that do what they are told.
Maybe read the article next time:

"Salmon already had nine points on his licence and received three more for travelling at 24mph in a 20mph zone in London last March.

That would usually trigger an automatic six-month disqualification from driving, but Salmon avoided a ban, partly because he cares for his seriously ill wife and daughter and drives them to medical appointments.
...
The actor already had nine points for speeding in April 2023, running a red light in February 2025, and driving without due care and attention in April 2025."

He got let off a ban that is supposed to automatically apply if you get 12 points on your license:
"You can be banned (disqualified) from driving if you are either:

Speed limit is 20mph, there are an awful lot of speed cameras in the UK, maybe stick to the speed limit next time, especially when you're on your 4th warning.

Incidentally, most cars have a speed limiter function, know my 12 year old car has one, which I use in 20mph areas, cause it is very easy to speed there. Most modern cars have an adaptive one that adjusts to the local limit.
