It's as though Irish cyclists think if as many people cycled here as do in Holland things would be the same.
Have a look at how people cycle in Holland - it's VERY different to cycling here. They obey the Rules of the Road. They don't cycle the wrong way up one-way streets. They indicate to let other road users know of their intention to turn. They don't cycle on footpaths. They obey traffic lights. They do not weave in and out of traffic. They have speed limits.
But our cyclists here want all the benefits of Dutch cycling to be transposed to Ireland, but rail against even the suggestion of behaving like Dutch cyclists in order to get it to work. Funny that.
