Cyclists

I was waiting at the lights just there at an T junction and saw a bus drive right alongside a guy on an electric scooter, belt him with the mirror and blow him through the air. Somehow the guy got blown outwards into the lane on his left which was empty and managed to roll when he hit the ground. Unbelievable reaction from him

The bus drivers reaction was to stop, check his bus for damage, and then start roaring at the guy he knocked down about drifting into his lane.. the fat prick. I set him straight but he wasn’t for listening. I hope the guy knocked down takes it further
Did the bus teleport next to the scooterist or was there a build up to the incident? A type of build up that the bus driver felt warranted shouting at the scooterist in the wake of the event?

Just the facts mam!

The bus was a coach that has those huge driver mirrors like arms on the front of it. The guy on the scooter was in the left hand lane approaching a T junction where he wanted to go straight through, the lane he was in is for turning left and there is no cycle lane. The lane on his right is for straight through only.. the bus was in that lane. The guy on the scooter was veering to the right hand side of his lane slowly to go straight across the junction when the bus came from behind. At this stage the bus driver should have slowed down as he should have realised there was no longer room to pass the scooter and stay in lane, but he decided to scrape past him instead, forgetting that the mirror is wider than the body of the bus, and absolutely smashed the guy on the scooter with the mirror. The scooter never left the left hand lane

The driver should 100% have realised he would hit the guy on the scooter as he approached him, and slowing down would have saved hitting the guy regardless of who was right or wrong. It was either a piss poor piece of spatial awareness or he routinely leaves inches between his 5 tonne bus and vulnerable road users. Based on his reaction I'd say its the latter
