Corn Ui Mhuiri

Some interesting posts and discussion points here to be fair.
Firstly, I know parents of many kids who attend or have attended Christians. What I know is that a few years ago a petition was signed by a few dozen boys from 4th year and up who were not Rugby or Hurling players and wished to play football. They asked the school to enter a football team in Munster colleges football at C or D level as Pres do. They were more or less told to shut up and ignored by the school. That’s what I meant when I said football was banned effectively. For the record there is at least 3 former inter county footballers on the staff in CBC.
On teenagers in general, there is a big drop off in team sports participation in secondary for sure. Many factors have been discussed above. It’s one that needs to be worked on as there are huge benefits from field sports participation if you keep them involved. We’re often guilty of being focused on winning and competition level sports instead of participation in Ireland.

Anyway, to refocus on the topic of thread, Hammies v Mounthawk is going to be one I look forward to. Mounthawk haven’t been tested at all yet and I think Hammies have the physicality and football to at least make it a game. They won’t roll over like Roco did anyway.
Tomás Kennedy, Ben Murphy and Paddy Lane are 3 exceptional talents though to be fair.

Ffs Paddy Lane seems to be around for years. How many times has he repeated the leaving cert or is he the school principal at this stage or what?
Which Reminds me of some absolute legends who repeated the leaving cert just to play another years Harty. Now that was Cork Hurling for ya boi

No he hasn’t repeated at all in fairness. Turning 19 this year. That’s the age most of them are doing leaving cert these days. Ben Murphy is only 17, he’s being “sought” by the Australians apparently already.

I know we’d all like to see a cork team in the final but being realistic mounthawk will win with a bit to spare. They are an exceptional bunch with many of last years team eligible again, especially their main guns like paddy lane and Ben Murphy. Would be expecting a sem and mounthawk final.

just a bit of history for you guys,
I remember Iognaid Ris winning both Harty & Ui Mhuiri 50 years ago in 1975, their only title in each, some achievment, how did that happen?

🤔
Good players I suppose!
you're right, they had Cashman & McCurtain who were part of the minor All Ireland double 6 months previously, did a bit of interent wormholing, came up with these two articles, one from 2015 when Roco were beaten in both finals (with Kingston & Powter). harty.jpg
