Corn Ui Mhuiri

Down in Kerry they have 4-6 schools were all the better players go to,up here we could have 18 plus schools playing in various grades each year.Maybe plus the usual cork schools we could have amalgamated teams from each division.

A sportsman who is academic sorry Prince. FFS ,I am talking about nerds , do any of ye pricks have kids. Half the School don't pick up a ball, gaming, code, music , art, taking drugs etc etc.
I have kids and they are academics and two of them are in CBC and they play hurling, rugby and one of them plays soccer as well.

Kids are playing what they want hence the reason Cork Schools Football is dead.
Less Kids are playing Sport, collapse of religious order etc etc etc.

CBC ffs lads you want them competing at Schools Rugby, Harty Cup and Corn Ui Mhuiri. Half the School are academics they don't play any sport.
I don’t think you can call them that.. they would be offended..

In my grandkids schools, it’s circa 15% actively play an organized sport. The gym seems to have become very popular. My 16 year old granddaughter tells me almost all her friends go to this one particular gym!
My grandson who plays both codes still goes to the gym 3 times a week with his mates, most of whom don’t play a sport. Come 14/15 most teenagers drift away from the team sports, especially the girls .

Some interesting posts and discussion points here to be fair.
Firstly, I know parents of many kids who attend or have attended Christians. What I know is that a few years ago a petition was signed by a few dozen boys from 4th year and up who were not Rugby or Hurling players and wished to play football. They asked the school to enter a football team in Munster colleges football at C or D level as Pres do. They were more or less told to shut up and ignored by the school. That’s what I meant when I said football was banned effectively. For the record there is at least 3 former inter county footballers on the staff in CBC.
On teenagers in general, there is a big drop off in team sports participation in secondary for sure. Many factors have been discussed above. It’s one that needs to be worked on as there are huge benefits from field sports participation if you keep them involved. We’re often guilty of being focused on winning and competition level sports instead of participation in Ireland.

Anyway, to refocus on the topic of thread, Hammies v Mounthawk is going to be one I look forward to. Mounthawk haven’t been tested at all yet and I think Hammies have the physicality and football to at least make it a game. They won’t roll over like Roco did anyway.
Tomás Kennedy, Ben Murphy and Paddy Lane are 3 exceptional talents though to be fair.
