Cork's Unreliable Bus Service

The bus service in Cork seems to be going from bad to worse. Virtually no service on some routes. The electronic arrival boards at bus stops are not linked to the buses on the road and these boards are incredibly misleading. They don't accurately reflect bus arrival times. Bus cancellations do not appear on these boards even if the bus is cancelled.

No wonder so few people use the buses in Cork. The bus service is a disgrace and totally unreliable.

There is a fella constantly on peejay show about this, Some girl was getting a bus from city centre to crosshaven last week at night, Driver stopped the bus somewhere outside carrigaline and said this is as far as we go, despite sign on bus saying crosshaven,

What are people moaning about ?

The whole purpose of Bus Eireann / CIE is for the good of all the unionised staff, their terms, conditions and pension fund.

Anything beyond that is a bonus as far as passengers are concerned.

The way people go on expecting a professional service from a unionised dinosaur need to get real.

Think hes the same guy on boards who has a meltdown if a bus is 5mins late

The NTA should put all routes out to tender. Same as the way the energy market and phone market is handled

Giving a unionised semi state a monopoly on transportation services in our city is a recipe for disaster
