Cork u20 Hurling 2024

I'm surprised by it but willing to give any management a chance to see how they do. Can't expect miracles either as Tipp & Clare are definitely potentially better than this Cork group. So if they can close the gap and push those two counties I think it would be a successful campaign

People learn, people change. Donal Og did not have a successful time with the minors but hopefully he will have learned from the mistakes he made.
The current senior management team made mistakes last year and some as well this year but what is important is that they are learning from these mistakes.
Donal Og is clearly a very intelligent man, he clearly loves Cork hurling and clearly wants to be involved in management and coaching.
Why not provide him with the opportunity to contribute ?
I don't think we should be closing doors on anyone tbh.

Not seeing where the "Clare are well ahead of us" is coming from ? Tipp will have the benefit of a Munster ( asterisk) Win but a bad beat against Offaly

Whilst accepting that it's not an exact transition and comparison from Minor to U20 , at Minor level Clare won by a point ( I think ) on a night that Cork had 21 wides !

Donal Og is a very astute coach . Doing really good things with Russell Rovers and St Colemans .

There is a bunch of players with Senior and Senior A experience ( James O'Brien , Denis Cashman , Ross O'Sullivan , Adam O'Sullivan, Eoin O'Mahoney etc ) . Throw in Danny O'Connell and Timmy Wilks along with Ben and Barry Walsh ( from this year's 20s ) as well as Jaden Casey , Barry O'Flynn and Patrick Walsh from a year back .

I would not be surprised to see this bunch competing strongly

A Junior Club and a Minor a club team , get to fuck.

I'd say he couldn't believe it when he got the call. Most would have assumed his goose was cooked coaching wise. You can only burn so many bridges.
I hope it works out of course from a Cork point of view.

Profile , profile, profile. Same scenario with Ring, Big John etc. Amazing how the Likes of Pat Ryan and Ben O'Connor are quiet as mice , never heard or seen.

Ben O Connor isn’t quiet.
He had a right rant about players not being able to play u20 and senior

and this year he attacked the decision in the Tipp game after he saw it

I don't know about 'well ahead', but Clare will and imo should be favoured ahead of Cork. They won that minor match in 2022 by four points - Cork did shoot a lot of wides and could have sneaked a draw, but Clare were the better side on the night. Clare then had the benefit of a number of further tough matches later on in the competition. Plus Clare have given U20 experience to more of next year's team, whereas last year Cork (understandably) relied heavily on players who are now overage. Finally, Clare will be able to supplement players from their 2022 minor team with players from two very talented subsequent minor teams, teams that were well ahead of their Cork counterparts.

None of that means it's a done deal that Cork will not compete, but imo getting to a Munster final would be a good year.
