Ya he's a proper dark arts corner back who loves to spoil. Moylan looks a fine half back too. The blue and black two tone cooper ala David McInerney is a good omen to have too!Fine win by a fine Clare team. Would be surprised if a couple of these lads are not called up to the senior panel for their next game. Gunning in particular looks senior-ready at this stage and Clare could do with bolstering the FB line.
And could have beat both in the Munster final and semi final as well. Shows both our teams aren’t that far off the standard at least. Our u20 Footballers beat Kerry in the Championship
Our u20 Hurlers beat Clare in the Championship
Both of them are All Ireland Champions now.....
Conor Mc got his chance and they didn’t fancy him, Cormac Deane was injured until the end of February so maybe be he wasn’t up to speed, Mark O Brien come on against Clare and wasn’t up to much. The Furlong/Cusack show really messed up Cork's chances. A good hurler in Matthew Barrett who never played full-back before played full-back in every game and was like a proper square peg in a round hole. Conor McCarthy (Glen Rovers) is a real prospect and extremely versatile but not considered good enough by this management. Players such as Mark O'Brien and Cormac Deane left out in the cold although O'Brien is a former goal scorer at inter-county minor and U-20 and then a reliance by the management on O'Brien to save Cork when they were facing defeat in the last few minutes of the Munster semi-final. Cormac Deane was Cork's best minor forward in 2025 and 1 of 4 who made the All-Stars Team but he was the only 1 of the 4 to not start U-20 this year. The biggest f***up of the lot though was to not start James O'Brien in the semi-final after he having a good campaign up to that match, yet John Murphy of Mallow who was sent off in the 1st game was restored and played game after game in various positions without showing any form. You could hardly make it up but it's real! I among a few others on here gave the warning signs but many disagreed pointing to the form seen in winter training by management with the belief that they new what they were doing, well the evidence that they were wrong is there for us all to see now!
Well said!Conor Mc got his chance and they didn’t fancy him, Cormac Deane was injured until the end of February so maybe be he wasn’t up to speed, Mark O Brien come on against Clare and wasn’t up to much.
What cracks me up the most here is how it’s referred to as Furlong/Cusack, why not mention all the selectors? Why not blame Hoggie, Tadgh Og or Niall Mc? Or just say Furlong as he is the manager after all. Another muppet who thinks he knows more than the management.
When did Conor Mac get his chance and if so should a player be entitled to only one chance? Why was he then brought into the extended panel for the last round of the championship when you say 'they didn't fancy him'?Conor Mc got his chance and they didn’t fancy him, Cormac Deane was injured until the end of February so maybe be he wasn’t up to speed, Mark O Brien come on against Clare and wasn’t up to much.

Conor Mc was part of the training panel right up until it was reduced to the final 30 at the start of February. He was then brought back into the extended panel for the last couple of weeks. He was also involved with the extended panel last year. To suggest management never gave him a chance simply isn’t accurate. They saw plenty of him over two seasons. When did Conor Mac get his chance and if so should a player be entitled to only one chance? Cormac Deane was named as sub for every game and came on once, if he wasn't up to speed why is this the case, your hypothetical 'maybe' rests nowhere really!
Mark O'Brien was brought on with 3 minutes of normal time left in the Munster semi-final when Cork were a beaten docket. Did the management in your own words also not 'fancy him' all year? Yet they brought him on to save their year, how sad!
All 5 selectors are responsible for the selection but surely the Manager and Coach over 2 years are more responsible for repeatedly poor selections. It's easy to crack you up but you hypothetically defend the management on 3 non-selections without any reference to the dropping of James O'Brien. 'Another muppet' who can't call a spade a spade.
You have to forgive him , he was at every challenge match and training session the u20s had. He knows better.Conor Mc was part of the training panel right up until it was reduced to the final 30 at the start of February. Cormac Deane played both U19 championship games in March, so management had ample opportunity to assess him as well. This was the same competition where Jack Counihan caught their eye and earned a call up. Perhaps Cormac hasn’t developed as quickly as some people expected. The management team have watched him far more closely than any of us from the outside.
Mark O’Brien undoubtedly has talent, but talent on its own isn’t enough at intercounty level. From the games I’ve seen him play, I would have concerns about his work rate and overall contribution away from the ball.
James O’Brien was unfortunate not to start. However, management opted for John Murphy, who offers greater mobility and covers more ground. In hindsight, that decision didn’t work out, but every management team makes selection calls based on what they believe gives them the best chance of winning.
There is also a significant shortage of quality backs in Cork hurling at present. That’s why Matthew Barrett ended up at full back and why four of last year’s minor team started. If there was a queue of proven defenders available, would that have happened? Probably not.
As for the management team, Tadhg Óg was there last year as well. If responsibility is being shared around, surely his name should be mentioned too. The reality is that some people seem determined to focus solely on Furlong and Cusack because they don’t particularly like them.
One final point: it’s very easy to criticise from the sidelines. If you feel so strongly about it, why not put your own name forward or get involved in a set up yourself?
