His daddy was a near neighbour of mine in Cloughduv and was a great footballer for kilmurry for many years and hurler as well . Think he played u21 for Cork as well my old memory is failing a bit .

Johnny won an All Ireland u21 in 94

Farna boy. Subbed with seniors too around that time. Might have been on the panel around 1996, but I could be wrong.

Johnny was a beautiful footballer, very left-footed but a great player. If not for injury, I reckon he would have made it with Cork.

Kilmurry had a very strong team around the mid-nineties, they were unlucky not to go up senior.

Lost an intermediate county final to the Dohenys with the 2 x Murrays playing. They had a good team alright. Sean O'Learys father Donal and uncle John playing too

That team had 4 sets of brothers , cliffords , o learys , murphy's and plunketts .

They played an intermediate final in the early 90s before one of the senior finals. It was an incredible game of football.

Disappointing to see only 4 West cork starters. Let’s hope that it doesn’t result in a lack of heart/passion that the WC lads always bring.
