Cork U-20 Hurlers 2025

Only 3 of that team on the age, very weak side really. This highlights the whole euphoria surrounding S&C is bull, players who are a year older, bigger and stronger are not playing in a winter challenge game. Where are players such as James O'Brien, Oisin Fitzgerald, Thomas Dunlea, Tadhg O'Leary Hayes, James O'Callaghan-Maher, Eoghan O'Flynn, Brian Nolan and Cian Dunphy? Also still no sign of Stephen Lynam, a forward with speed and deadly finishing who can turn on a sixpence. I know Denis Cashman, Peter O'Shea, Adam and Ross O'Sullivan will probably start later on but it's not enough. Good to see Cian Denis O'Connor from last years minor team involved though, there is great fight and drive in this guy!
You're naming some players there that currently can't make their clubs first team.

It doesn't make sense to judge players in January or the previous year if they were injured or unavailable, the squad is based on looking forward to the forthcoming championship. One player I referred was injured for most of last year, another who didn't play last year played senior club hurling the year before. That player, a clubmate of his I mentioned and another two players I mentioned from a different club have minor and U-21 county medals between them respectively in the last few years and you don't think they should be considered for a Cork underage squad. Cork selectors may be blind enough to the talent at their disposal but if they are taking this view we can all forget about the development of young players at inter-county level not to mind success.

So what...that doesn't automatically make them good enough for IC u20.

You talk a lot of drivel to be honest. You randomly pick out players who currently play 2nd team hurling, in some vain attempt to seem knowledgeable. Interested yes....knowledgeable seemingly not.

You are never happy with an underage management team or the players they select. Naming young lads who with all due respect are playing with strong clubs so they would be spotted if they were up to it.

I'd ask why don't you don't put yourself forward for a position in a development squad and back up your talk?

Fair play, you nailed it but you left out S&C .

It doesn't automatically make them not good enough either, it's a about a large squad to see who is good enough to form a reduced squad of 25 by April.

So you are 'happy' with Cork underage selections in recent years, I'm over the moon for you! :ROFLMAO: The team who played Wexford last Saturday had only 3 on the age, I believe there are a lot more players on the age other than those who played last year who should be thereabouts but you think they shouldn't be considered because they haven't played with their clubs 1st team which is referring to senior clubs only. The reality is that it's underage players for underage inter-county and not confined to whether they played 1st team at adult level only.

A friend of mine was involved in a development squad last year for the 1st time and he was approached to get involved and gave it due consideration before doing so, I will do likewise if I'm approached rather than take advice from you.

You mean the selections that have won 2 u20s and a minor All Ireland? I'd be happy enough with those yeah....

The team who played Wexford last Saturday had only 3 on the age,

So what...its a bloody challenge game.

I believe there are a lot more players on the age other than those who played last year who should be thereabouts

And how do you know those players haven't been considered? Maybe some of those lads played fresher hurling that week. Maybe some of them have knocks.

You keep on being outraged about underage selections for challenge games though. Personally, ill keep an open mind and see what happens in Championship.

You seem to think any time Cork don't win an underage All Ireland that the management have left a few ready made stars at home that would have changed their fortunes and it's all their fault. Meanwhile in the real world...
