Kerry getting away with this lark year after year . Cork co. board haven't the interest to call foul.

I just don't get how Kerry can be allowed only have 9 teams in their senior club championship. It was only 8 before this year.
Of all counties Kerry are recognised as being probably the home of gaelic football, their standards are higher than most counties so naturally they should have a very high level of clubs with the ability to play senior club championship.
Having so few in their senior championship automatically has a knock on effect on all the other levels as is evidenced by the provincial championship at inter & junior level.

Cork be able to compete if they had a level playing field. I think An Ghaeltacht would find it harder to beat Knocknagree yesterday than Aghabullogue. That's what you are dealing with. No offence to Aghabullougue but they are tier three in Cork.

You also have to take into account the number of clubs in each county also.
Kerry have 58, Cork have 154.

And whatever about Cork feeling aggrieved, what about Waterford junior football winners having to play the junior winners in Cork and Kerry.

I think Croke Park need to weigh things a bit and have an input into who represents counties. They do in Hurling with the senior winners in the likes of Sligo, Donegal, playing Junior level all Ireland.
Stick Clare, Limerick & Waterford senior winners at Intermediate level until one of them wins the province at that grade. They are great competitions, but they need a rejig as the lower levels have been dominated by Cork and kilkenny in hurling, and Kerry in football.

From Cork's side of things, a simple renaming of the grades would help us enter club teams that would match Kerry's standards.

You mentioned Waterford, and spot on with your suggestion. Maybe it is about time the Waterford Senior football champions enter the Munster Intermediate Championship. Same with Limerick based on recent years. At the moment, it is a waste of time entering them into the Munster Senior club championship. Drop them down a grade, and all of a sudden it makes the grade more competitive. Same with the Waterford Intermediate champions entering the Munster Junior club championship.

Yes, I know Cork clubs do well in the Munster Junior and Intermediate club championships in hurling, but it is up to the other counties to ensure they send their best possible representatives to the provincial championships. Tipp for example have relegated a lot of their senior hurling clubs (as directed by Croke Park) but their Intermediate representatives have greatly improved since with Upperchurch winning the Munster Intermediate Championship this year.

Fuck em, top 12 Senior, 2nd 12 Intermediate, 3rd 12 Junior A. Then all the rest on down as Junior B,C etc... let them come back and complain then.

Thats gonna bring pressure of it’s own and after losing two semi-finals by a point they’ll probably be elevated to favourites from the outset now.

Iveleary footballers had over 100 sessions since finishing up last year. Aghabullogue had 44.

Can a team be over-coached when concentrating solely on one code?

The coachford lads seem to play off the cuff stuff and direct kick passing to the inside forwards. Great to watch and looking forward to seeing Ray Keane with the U-20s next year.

Hey, I've a few lads involved here. Not sure how or even if this transfers to the pitch. Both lads are saying they have never trained so hard. one of them loves it, the other one is coming home and falling asleep in the chair

We have a very large number of very small clubs, spread across a wide area. Our structure reflects that.

Personally, I think clubs representing Cork or provincial/all Ireland club competitions generally, don’t need the prominence that they get. They should be very distant second priorities when organising schedules and competition structures.

The provincial and all Ireland club comps should be run off like the comórtas peile over a long weekend imho.
