I didn't know that but isn't he a brother of Fiona Nelligan who scored the winning point for Cork Intermediate Camogie team in the AI final a few years back.
IMO the 1985 minor team were superior, Tom Kingston, Cathal Casey, Micky Mullins, Mark Foley and John Fitzgibbon all went on to win senior AI medals. The 1974 and 1978/'79 back to back and 2001 minor winning teams had numerous players who went on to win AI senior medals.

I'd say the 1995 team would be up there with any Cork minor team of the last fifty years. Five subsequent senior AI medallists, four of whom won three medals each and were pivotal players on those senior teams.

The 2021 Cork minor team was the best since 2001. They dominated every game and won each one by over 10 points. Hugh O’Connor didn’t even stick with hurling, and another player who was considered one of the best from that group went off to play soccer. Ben O’Connor would probably be starting for the seniors if he had stayed around. Two players have already made the breakthrough, and I’d expect Paudie O’Sullivan to become Cork’s number one goalkeeper within the next year or two. Another couple, such as O’Sullivan and Leahy, could still make it, meaning that team could eventually produce five Cork senior players. If O’Connor hadn’t gone off to play rugby, it could have been six, which is an excellent return from one minor team.
Ya 5 starters there for the Seniors and a few subs. If we could have another minor team like this in next few years we be laughing. We can’t go through a period like we did from 2002-2015.
