Cork Minor Hurlers 2025

Individually, physically and skilwise Cork beats this Clare team 7 days a week and twice on Sunday. Clare were the better team though and they played more as a team and were very unselfish in how they played. Worthy winners but fair play to our youngsters as well, they left it all out on the pitch. Defeat can sometimes be a blessing in disguise. Our lads and management team will have learned a lot.

I don't agree with blaming this management team after 1 defeat.

Don't the management team progress to u20 with this group?
Even though I have been critical I would agree with that. As you have said sometimes you learn more from a loss then a win.

Regardless of what facts?
One win in over 20 years?
That fact?
No real tactical switch after half time?
That fact?
Beat Clare by 3-24 to 3-17 in the first round?
That fact?

Does the fault all lie with the management?
No, but the lack of changes and tactics when a blind man could see we were struggling does.

Yes, it's a bug bear of mine.
Why? Because I watched a fair bit of club juvenile and the way it is played reffed and coached down here is different to the rest of Munster.
You can defend the management and by extension the whole system all you want but in the end that Clare team looked vastly superior to Cork and never looked like losing but they were not vastly superior.
That comes back to management, coaching and setups.

4 of the clare players that started that match sunday did not start in Tulla including kennedy who was injured
There were a further 5 positional switchs
Cork had a tactic. That tactic was totally valid in the context of the first game where our full forward line ran riot any time good ball went in

Every time a clare player got the ball to our half back line the two wing backs bombed backwards and murphy and rodgers were never allowed a single run at the goals as a result.
the problem was that most of the time the clare player in possession held that possession and went crossfield or handpassed forwards instead of delivering and the new half forward line selected had the ability to get scores from out the field.

you saw murphys ability to turn, he nearly breaks defenders ankles when he gets a run on them.
If the half backs hadn't gone back and the two inside lads had got goals again you would be on here going mental about the lack of cover.

How about you put aside your pet likes and dislikes and just accept that the cork minor management produced a fine team .
Just because you are disappointed they lost doesn't give you a licence to shit all over them
