Cork Minor Hurlers 2025

Saw a share of Waterford v Clare. Good game, Clare were leading with ten minutes to go and came close to scoring a second goal, but Waterford caught them with a late surge. Cormac Spain and Jack Power particularly stood out in that last ten minutes. Their FB line had a good battle with Clare's inside-forwards.

Waterford will feel they could have won at Pairc Ui Rinn. They have serious running power through the middle, but they don't score v freely. On the basis that Cork have a greater spread of scoring threats, I'd tip them, but only just.

Galway and KK each had a good win over the weekend, clearly the best two sides in Leinster. As with Munster, the top four go into the AI series. That'll be KK, Galway and the winners of next weekend's QFs (Dublin v Westmeath and Wexford v Laois). No idea how likely an upset in one of those is - Dublin are weaker than Wexford, so might be more vulnerable. Laois with an eye-catching result v Offaly.

Wexford and the Dubs won their Leinster QFs. The Dubs put seven goals past Westmeath. I saw the second half of Laois-Wexford, it was scrappy enough fare. Laois set up with a sweeper and struggled to score or even create chances from play, Wexford weren't anything special on the day but a little but more fluid and deserved it.

In the Celtic Challenge QFs, Cork Red got a trimming from one of the Tipp teams, Cork White beat the other.
