Cork Minor Hurlers 2025

Have a young fella of my own(imokilly)going in panel was cut to approx 36-40 a few days ago.
Panel is apparently fluid and yes lads who were not on it last year did not get a go.
Any idea why he did that. Maybe he thinks he has enough so its 40 players .wud love to see the panel

Both u16 this year, both fine players.Donal Mulcahy (Newtowshandrum)is over the u16s this year. From what I've seen of their trial games, they are very strong. There was a cut made to this panel at the weekend.Ad far as I know they now have a panel of 50,but will continue to monitor players outside the panel.
Ya heard trials were in November ya I suppose they got a shock from u15 arawbawn cup friend was saying all 3 teams got beat well

Would seem to be a poor move if true to not look at lads who were not previously on panel. We all know at underage a player can improve hugely in 12 months
I think that's the idea, they will monitor lads on an ongoing basis. Its a fluid process and I would say they are very aware that players can improve at different rates,so nothing is set in stone.

I find that hard to believe no harm in asking clubs to send players in at the end of the day there coaches. That's wat they are there for .

Yes, boys are all developing physically at different speeds, and when panels are being selected and whittled down, late developers are going to miss out. The players on the panels would also benefit from better S&C and coaching than they would possibly have gotten from their club in many cases.
In my view this is all exacerbated by the stupid decision to have intercounty minor at u17. It should have never been changed. It gives development panels less time and makes it less likely for lads outside the initial panels to break into them. It also encourages the selection of players on panels on the basis of size rather than hurling skill.

Well said very little will het into that 36 no matter wat give ever player the same trial game wat harm is it .wat kinda breakdown us there north east etc

This is a serious problem with Rebel Og for a long time. Players are called at 13 for U-14 trials which they play the following year with their regional team in the Tony Forristal Cup. Between the 4 regional teams there is over 80 players at least and from there selectors don't cast their net as players go up along through the ages. Currently players such as Daniel Guiney, Josh Brosnan, Michael Quill and Alan Cummins among others are victims of this incompetence and Cork hurling is the real loser.

Another player neither of us mentioned for this years minors is Carrigalines Charlie Hanratty. Do you know if he was involved with the panel and if so did he make last weeks cut?
