Cork Minor Footballers 2025

Holland and Barrett were the stars of the show both this year and last year and yet they did not make the minor team. Rebel og is a joke.

Difficult to know. Move to u17 probably not the best from point of view of identifying best talent in the county and as per post above, 16-17 year olds can develop very differently
There was also 2-3 Douglas lads that looked excellent in winning u16 Premier 1 title last year but AFAIK they were not even on extended minor panel this year.
Does a young lad playing lower grade competitions look like a generational talent playing teams at that level whereas an equally talented player playing against better quality opponents at Premier 1 or 2 level finds it more difficult to stand out?

You'd hope that cream would rise to the top playing u15/u16 games at Rebel Og level!

Small number of Cork schools competing at business end of their competitions not helping either!

I was at the east cork minor final recently,
Glenville won comfortably against Erin’s Own I wonder will any fellas playing that get a look in with Cork squads this year

I understand Glenville then lost in the county c'ship to Newcestown by a couple of points. Glenville's Billy Ryan was a Cork minor footballer last year and Jack Counihan was a Cork minor hurler this year with Tadhg McCarthy an expected County minor hurler next year. I believe they all played v Erins Own and I don't know if there are any others of inter-county standard for either code.

David Nolan and Darragh O’Sullivan are both expected to be minor footballers for cork next year. Tom O’Riordan has been good when I watched him at minor and scored 6 points in the junior a final at the weekend and Shane Curtin was also very good for glenville

Darragh O'Sullivan played on the Cork U-16 AI winning team which defeated Kerry in the final, however David Nolan wasn't playing and he played earlier this year with Cork U-16 hurlers so I understood he was with the hurlers. I didn't hear players with Cork minors could play inter-county at both codes for the coming year. Nolan could have played on the other U-16 football team which lost to Meath, I don't know. Are O'Riordan and Curtin underage for Cork, I thought a player had to be at least 18 to play Junior?
