Cork Minor Footballers 2025

They were good enough to play P1 this year but I totally understand why they would want to stay P2. They'd be concerned that they could get whipped which would do the club no good in the long term. For smaller clubs who get a good crop every so often it's a real tough call about which grade to play.
Yes, I just thought you were having a dig I took you up wrong. Donoughmore doing serious work underage but it’s just lack of numbers is the real issue. A lot of u16s on that panel today that were backed by 4 or 5 very strong 18 year olds. They have some serious talent that played minor the last 2 years and for a club like Donoughmore these will be the lads to drive them to a junior county in years to come. It all goes around in cycles.

Not true at all. Infairness to donoughmore they have a great team but I wouldn’t say a great squad. Only had u16s on their bench and struggle for bench players.
Daniel Holland and Scott Barrett immense for Donoughmore and will surely be looked at for the cork 20s, they were awesome.
Don’t be surprised to see Donoughmore down to the a divisional grade next year as sometimes in minor it’s just the way it works out.

They were on the extended minor panel last year and based on their performances in last two years, you'd have to wonder if there really were that many better players ahead of them, that between them, that they couldn't get one minute of game time in what was a fairly abysmal campaign.

Players can develop a lot since that age in fairness. Holland seems light enough but when he fills out he’ll be a great player. A winter in the gym with the 20s would do him the world of good before playing the year after with his own age.

Holland and Barrett were the stars of the show both this year and last year and yet they did not make the minor team. Rebel og is a joke.

Last year in the final Holland didn’t shine the year he was actually county minor. He’s obviously after improving a lot this year (probably from playing junior a football). Players develop a lot differently but he should most definitely be looked at for the 20s considering how much he improved.
Barret on the other hand was a star in both finals so you’d have to question why he didn’t see any game time.
Donoughmore are playing b county u21 and I’d predict them to win it with ease.
Think aghinagh will be that but ahead of them yet in junior a.

Donoughmore’s underage is in a good place at the moment, a local man tells me they fielded two u21 football teams this year and will be fielding two u21 hurling teams also with subs to spare. Must have been a serious baby boom there circa 2003/4 to 2008/9 😂
