Cork Minor Football 2024

Considering the principal coached gaa when he was a teacher I wouldn’t say that’s why. The demographic of the school has changed. Numbers are down and on top of that a lot more foreigners who don’t play gaa are going there. For example I heard their current second years have only 60 or 70 and only half of them are Irish. Only about 20 boys in the year play gaa.
i don’t feel a whole lot of sorry for them, for the last number of years they were lazy in recruiting numbers that would benifit their football, They let other schools in the locality bring in players from areas that would of been CCRÌ catchment. CCRI should be the school young fellas aspire to go to with them being the most successful team football wise in cork

They definitely took their eye off the ball, but it’s fundamentally a demographic issue. School must be heading towards a 50:50 split between Irish and non Irish. This is significantly higher than other GAA playing schools.

Have they replaced it with other sports so or is there just no sport going on? It must be the closest school now to the new Munster centre of excellence. Could we see it being the next rugby school?

the funny thing is gaa is still the priority there, just the players going there are nowhere near good enough. Basketball and soccer are there but would be be secondary to gaa. Unfortunately the school has gone to the dogs in general not just in sports
