PatMan weren't Ballinora also in Ballincollig parish once upon a time ?
It will happen eventually and it will need toKrusty I also acknowledged that it was brilliant by Ballincollig to maintain a panel of 50 throughout the year it is some achievement especially young lads nowadays my whole point wasn't a stick to beat ballincollig with its a point to state that if you and 2 clubs there for example you'd have 2 panels of 25 rather than a panel of 50 and thus 15 to 20 more players get game time and that's 15-20 more players in the pool for cork squads to look at.
Yeah, you’re right, even nowadays the line is a bit blurry in areas like Maglin and Curraheen.PatMan weren't Ballinora also in Ballincollig parish once upon a time ?
Ballincollig wouldn’t have 50 players at minor level if they weren’t looking after them all so fair play to themKrusty I also acknowledged that it was brilliant by Ballincollig to maintain a panel of 50 throughout the year it is some achievement especially young lads nowadays my whole point wasn't a stick to beat ballincollig with its a point to state that if you and 2 clubs there for example you'd have 2 panels of 25 rather than a panel of 50 and thus 15 to 20 more players get game time and that's 15-20 more players in the pool for cork squads to look at.
I think the area, even beyond Ballincollig, as a whole is seeing huge development and increases in numbers as a result. It is great to see a regular Junior club like Donoughmore produce such a good Premier 2 Minor football team. I hope they are minded and blended well into their Junior team in the next few years. With such talent, they should be winning a few Mid Cork titles with the hope they could give the Junior county championship a crack. From playing them in challenges over the years, they are tough men up there. They also produced one of our greatest ladies club teams. I hope this minor team will help them push on their men's club.
On Ballincollig, with their population, they have to be managed similar to a Dublin senior club. I would think that a full time or at least part-time GDA or coaching officer should be employed in the club to ensure each player and each team are well looked after. It is good to see its neighbouring clubs not being affected by them though. Both Ballinora and Éire Óg seem to be doing very well on their own.
Cork GAA don’t like logical ideas i’m afraidBallincollig wouldn’t have 50 players at minor level if they weren’t looking after them all so fair play to them
But on a general level Cork GAA have been very slow to look at new clubs. Areas like Ballincollig, Carrigaline, Douglas and Glanmire are crying out for it
The Dublin model is the one we should be following with new clubs being paired with certain primary schools and after 10 years of player development you will start producing adult teams
I'm fairly sure they do have someone employed full time in the club, coaching in schoolsOn Ballincollig, with their population, they have to be managed similar to a Dublin senior club. Persume you mean Dripsey. I’m surprised more people living in the West side of Ballincollig especially don’t look into joining Dripsey. The pitch must only be a 5 minute drive from that end of the town. I suppose people who are new to the area mightn’t know the pitch is thereThere’s a fine pitch at the periphery of Ballincollig used by a club with a catchment area not even in Ballincollig!
