Don O Leary
Old pal n comrade
Of 46 years is stepping down today from his role as director of the Cork life centre,
Health reasons as he’s dying of cancer and should have stepped down last year,
He’s made such a difference in so many lives of our young in the city,
Despite constant scraping for funds he’s managed to make it work,
Beautiful beautiful man,
First got that awful disease in Portlaoise gaol,
But bate it,
And is still battling
Deserves all the accolades I’m sure he’s going to receive

I met a few of his students over the years, really nice kids who had nothing but good to say about the place. An alternative life without the education it provided would be unthinkable

Definetly one of the best, most impactful, charities in the Country

I mentioned before that I grew up on the same street that Don still lives on.

He walks it like he talks it - a tireless/relentless advocate for his local community and those in need of a hand. He doesn't take shit from anyone either.

Lazy commenters on here will no doubt drop in Sinn Féin here as stick to beat him with but, party affiliated or not (I'm certainly not fond of SF myself), Don O'Leary takes everyone as he meets them.

Cork needs more people like Don.

youll always get silly ppl commenting on SF etc
If they knew Don they’d understand what makes him tick,
And actually like myself he’s no regard/ respect for the current crop of neo SF
When we were at it we were treated as leprrs,
Now it seems to be trendy?
Mad the way the ? changes,
Like him or loathe him
He’s a man apart,
Did more for the young of this city than all the rest of us on here combined will ever do
