Too many on here comparing Cork to Limerick, when Cork improve by doing the simple things right then they will become competitive. Those things include developing a direct style of hurling with emphasis on stick passing rather than hand passing. Emphasis on balance and a team ethic rather than overloading the team with lightweight speedsters that go out or the game for up to 20 minutes. Selecting the team and panel correctly to find the right balance. Cork lost to Galway because their inter-county free taker wasn't selected. Under various managements selections are quite poor.

Hurling like other sports is a percentage game. Cork should be looking at Kilkenny's improvement this year from last year when KK lost to the Rebels rather than comparing the team to Limerick.

Limerick are not going away, they have a serious minor side for next year and 2024. They will also have a very good U-20 team, those teams are major back up to their seniors going forward.

Hhowever hopefully Pat Ryan and his selectors will take the correct issues regarding Cork on board.
I think this is a very good, perceptive post.

Unfortunately though, regardless of what we do we're still playing for second place. As is everybody else. Limerick will do 4 in a row in 2023 - for feck sake they have Peter Casey and Cian Lynch to come into last year's team.

The pretenders to their throne (Cork included) are closing the gap but until such time as this Limerick team go on the slide and they come back to meet said pretenders they're not going to be stopped. The gap is currently too wide and while somebody might catch them once early on in 2023, that won't be enough to knock them out.

Hard to see past them alright.
You never know though, that's the beauty of sport.

SOD does not have the hurling for anywhere other than the corner.
Absolute nonsense. Will O Donoghue is as important to Limerick as Gillane or Kyle Hayes and he'd be the first to say himself his hurling skill wouldn't be top class. His shooting is brutal and his passing off the stick wouldn't be great. But he's the best midfielder in the country with the last 3 or 4 years.

Ya he is going to rubgy that is all but certain was talking to high up barrs man today who confirmed this.He didnt know which way Brian Hayes would go? Would he try both?
The sooner the Ben O'Connor & Brian Hayes will they/won't they sagas are sorted the better.
It's like an episode of Coronation Street on here 😀.
