Cork Hurlers - Part 2

The talent on this cork team is really proving this year. JOC notched 7 for play last night and can’t even make the bench and the same goes for young William Buckley scoring 1-12 (1-7 from play). The depth is immense and good to see these lads getting the opportunity to be released for the club games to try prove that little point.

I went back and watched the 2021 semi final v KK out of interest (I'm not going to rewatch the final!)

You can see the nucleus of this current team is there but wow, the differences are also glaring!

The increase in physicality and size!

Players like Coleman, Fitzgibbon, TOM, NOL could all obviously hurl but they could not break tackles in this game.

And the style of play!! Looking back you couldn't devise a style of play less suited to playing a team like Limerick!

That final never happened. I have removed it entirely from my brain.

We are slow to make changes though.
William was really exceptional last night but shooting the lights out against Carrigaline in a league match at this messy time of the year ain’t going to be the same thing either.
Agree, but it’s really important that players released from the squad play like intercounty players at that level and perform, it affirms their selection and management, good sign of a player as well
