Cork Hurlers - Part 2

I dont think it was an attempted gouge either - I mean it would be difficult to gouge a player moving away from you, over his shoulder and through his helmet.

But it was a deliberate pullback on a player getting away from him imho, and he clearly caught the opponent's faceguard. It should have been a red card - a yellow card at the VERY minimum, which might have set down a marker. But the limerick player got away with it. Poor reffing rather than any nasty intent by the limerick man imho.

And as I said earlier, with the form of both teams yesterday I don't think Cork would've beaten 13 never mind 14.
Agreed it could have been a red but harsh one ,and he did get a yc for it .

2010 -semi final. Consoled ourselves that we were beaten by team of the ages - they lost final to Tipp who we had beaten in Munster c'ship!! :(

Think the worst remains 21 AI final!!
Over after 10 minutes - said it to the youngfella yesterday, the big difference was that we didn’t turn up with a realistic expectation to win that day.. unrelenting hope aside!

This is worse then those, 21 we were haunted to get there and no where near ready, 96 that was a hardened limerick team and cork had young lads like Sean og, Joe Deane, the rock just starting out……yesterday was utterly destructive and disastrous…..this is a team fully prepared, having got to a final last year, having had a management in place on year 3 with a raft of very experienced players and they were utterly blown out of it.
Yesterday was a debacle, unprepared, unready, sub par…..coming out after and saying we learned you need players 100% right for a match of this magnitude shows how utterly unprepared they were.
Yesterday destroyed any notion that this team will win an all Ireland certainly this year and longer possibly

Yes you’re correct. However, that’s the nature of sport. The penalty was a worse decision. Gillane is not only a superb hurler but an extremely clever one. He sees the ref is 40 odd yards away and decides in the tussle with Downey to slump on his arse. This is a complete carbon copy of the peno he got v Cork in ‘23 (I think O’Donoghue was the ‘perpetrator’ on that occasion). I wish we had a bit of that cuteness to us.
Spot on about Gillane. Extremely intelligent player to be fair to him. He reminds me a bit of Eoin Kelly (Tipp) with how often he loses his man and seemingly gets scores with 10 yards of space. The second his marker is either distracted or is keeping their eyes up the field on the ball coming in he's looking to break away from them. I was down near pitch level for his corner in the first half and its amazing how much he plays the corner back from behind in a blind spot for his marker. Possibly not the quickest player in the world but he times his runs incredibly well and 90% of balls stick to him first time and decision making is almost always right. Very rarely see him getting blocked down or hooked too.

Someone like Connolly IMO while probably, more athletic doesn't have the street smarts of someone like AG and generally tries to bulldoze over people.

Cork have had one terrible day out. Listening to some of the posts on here you would think they haven't played well in years.

If Cork can beat Waterford then I guarantee the Munster final will be a very tightly contested game.
Cork may not win but there will be no repeat of yesterday's performance.

The reaction on here from some is like what I would expect from a bunch of teenagers.... but then.....
👍

Tony Considine says it was the worst cork display he has seen, Yes it was bad but there have been worse, Limerick 96, Limerick 21,
Kilkenny the year escapes me,
Against Galway in 2011 and 2015 were fairly bad beatings as well. In 2011 Cork were 1-3 to no score up and lost by around 12.
