Cork Hurlers - Part 2

I was in front of Hoggies first free in the first half against the wind, was it Coleman or Fitzy he took the ball off? He seemed pissed off he wasn't taking it. If I recall in the league Vs Lim Fitzy was near 100% on frees in the pissing rain?

I couldn't believe Hoggy kept taking long rangers against the wind, granted Dalton was off but surely he'd be better inside with it dropping in around the house if Fitzy didn't convert?
Darragh well able to take them, beggars belief what transpired yesterday.

On the positive side lads if we win Sunday we will end up with our highest points total in the round robin since 2018…..although 4 seems to be our magic number and I think the realists amongst us would think a nice draw with Waterford and a low key exit at semi final stage would be preferable to another beating in limerick followied by potentially another all Ireland final destruction
I know everybody saying cork are not that bad which is true but limerick wont turn up in the final in limerick and forget how to hurl. And they dont do complacent unless its a shyte leagie game in feb.

Also have no injury concerns full squad and players who were underpar so far hegarty and t morrisey sprang to life yesterday. Also what is kiely 13/13 finals

Prob over reacted to a bit of jibing last week and said I wouldn't post but there's always the ignore button I guess even if some of his posts are decent .
Anyway few comments on the game, obviously delighted on how it went, the mindset and attitude of limerick players was bang on from the start ,I would say tactically we won every line on the pitch which is hard to do on any given day.
Cork thrive on fast delivery, long ball and breaking man onto ball creating overlaps and then score ,our 6 backs held their positions and more importantly when pulled out of position others covered . For cork this was a big problem and they didn't react on the line to rectify it.
MisMatch ups re players are always easy call after the game ,I'm sure in than regard pat ryan will have learnt some things if we meet again.
People saying limerick have shown their hand is rubbish. There's nothing new about straightforward outhurling your opponent and yesterday we did that in a lot of instances.
On the line I think our management have changed around a few things tactics wise from the 2 great games last year and attacking wise you can see greater emphasis on spacial awareness of players in better positions for scores.
Are we a 16 point better team than cork ,well yesterday we were but if we meet again the ball will be thrown in at the start of the game with all to play for.
It's our first year in a long while with all players available and that's a huge bonus .
The talk in the media of a cork limerick trilogy is hype and disrespectful to every other county, if both counties are good enough to see this happen then great but waterford ,tipp galway, kilkenny and the rest will have their say for sure.
There's plenty of hurling left in cork and yesterday's result doesent change that.
A winner take all next weekend at home v waterford should be well within this group of players if they go out with the right attitude .
Congrats to you and fellow Limerick men, Is it a case of pressure of the hunt for 5 in a row had an effect last summer? Were players somewhat stale?
Now in fairness Cork still had to go out and Beat ye last summer and did so twice but sadly just fell short,
Lynch looks like he is ravenous this year, Some of his touches are incredible, Hayes a monster and id say the sideline regret not moving him to 6
earlier last year in the semi, We were told Byrnes was finished but he held his own yesterday even though when he got the yellow he feared
he would be subbed,

I wasn't on the pitch but the flags were moving a bit alright that why I said little to no wind, the lads have scored with/against stronger breeze.
Wind was a huge factor in yesterday's game. Not on the result obviously.

Pretty much everything had been said already here. Was a total systems failure by Cork. The absolute only positive to take is that there was no major prize on offer for winning yesterday. Injuries are a major concern and the fact out captain has started all three championship matches so far and not finished one.

People calling for Healy to be introduced yesterday is silly imo, it was not day to find out what he's made of and he would have been on a hiding to nothing. Wouldn't mind seeing him starting next Sunday or in maybe more so I'm a munster final if we over Waterford. Heading back there to GG in just three weeks time to take on Limerick again would feel very strange if it comes to pass. I'd certainly expect the game to go differently but hard to see a Cork win after yesterday. Kyle Hayes dominance at centre back is scary.

Pity Dalton had to go off so early. Between that, Barrett's easy wide and the slip/goal it felt like the wheels came off fast and we never recovered. Barrett I thought actually did reasonable (compared to others) in the first half despite some other poster's comment. Complete no show in second however.

The hype train crashed into a green brick wall yesterday but Cork didn't become a bad team overnight and are still in the championship.

I believe changes need to be ringed in now and fast, many here had spotted we had an issue at midfield and corner back for several weeks now at this stage.

I believe the best we can do now is bring back Darragh Fitz to midfield and a starting place needs to be found for Millerick.

Up front, we are okay but a few positional changes are needed to facilitate the above.

Christ you are a ray of sunshine this morning, Nobody knows what can happen on a given day, Joe Canning said last night on TSG there were
days when he went out and the team just didnt get out of the blocks,
In fairness jimmy joe canning and his galway crew 2011 to 2020 could write a disk rotation on not getting out of the block. Their best team since the 80s wasted

No Limerick won't forget how to hurl, the hope would be we remember how to hurl.

The world and it's mother knew what Limerick were going to bring yesterday, especially in the Gaelic Grounds. How flat our lads were beggers belief.

I do agree but my point being even with and against the wind we missed sitters

It was alluded to earlier about quaids puckouts with the wind, like how when we had the wind we couldn't do the same?

In Cahalane's major incident that I saw he lost his hurley, his man ran around him, he conceded a free, and then managed to pick up a yellow. Not sure he's the answer some here seem to think he is.
A free and a yellow for nothing so you can remove that from your argument against the man.
