Cork Hurlers - Part 2

Collins is unpredictable at times and has a habit for saving the hard ones and letting in the soft ones, that’s not what’s needed in a keeper. He’s been saved distribution wise by the big long puck to Hayes which is very simple, let’s be honest.
Saunders is reliable and saves most of the easy ones and I think his distribution is far better and more accurate. He is overall more solid and I think with time could develop into a serious keeper.
But agree, either way our no.16 needs game time.
Saunderson is nowhere near Collins level at the moment. Could even struggle to hold the no.16 jersey over next couple of seasons

Bang on!
He's comparing club Saunderson to Intercounty Collins. Not like for like, if you compare them both at club level Collins still gets the nod.
If I recall Saunderson did get chances last year and you could see the nerves which is expected. Collins the same when he was Nash's understudy.
He will grow no doubt about it.

Claiming Saunderson's distribution is better and more accurate based on what?
Cork have game plan and is expected to follow the plan and distribution from last year both keepers followed it and Saunderson actually fell on the Cork distribution in my opinion, he couldn't deliver as expected.

Absolutely nothing personal there or mean to be insulting to the chap but he needs time.

The half forward line that was obliterated on Saturday and has 2 players there years who can’t win rucks or field ball are
Returned without comment, obviously Barrett just had a bad night and is a super player, there seems to have been a reduction in the number of ‘potential’ bigger half forward types such as Cunningham, Twomey, cahalane for example, unless they give other fellas a go are we going to end up bringing on the exact same type of nice fast forward like Kingston, O’Connor and Flynn with very little option of a different type of forward maybe Healy if he actually gets a game and performs vs
Westmeath as that seems to be a benchmark for a poster or 2 here, accepting dalton and harnedy remain first choice but both are injury prone, just hope we don’t end up in a knockout match again with the same players coming on against a defence who will overpower them

Ben Cunningham has had hamstring troubles for the past year and a half ...thats why hes not played yet but hopefully he will get sorted fingers crossed and he will have a great future yet .....is Sean Twomey injured with respects i think hes better that Dan Hogan....
Did Alan Walsh deserve a slot ? huge paw on him .....think Cathal McCarthy is lucky too but County Champions will always get there quota...
We know about Daire O Leary..of course hope hes a future player too....
Conor O Callaghan neaver got a look in either.
Maybe Conor O Callaghan, Conor Cahalane and Alan Walsh can be picked up by the footballers !

Fine club player but I don't see him as inter county level
He has burnt enough intercounty players at this stage in club championship to argue that point. Out before his man, takes a run with quarter turn and over the bar practically over his shoulder.
But ya if he has 15 intercounty hurlers around him will every touch have the precision remains unknown.

Im years crying out for 2 ball winners but now we have them we need 4 as both seem to be spent with 20 minutes to go, which is no wonder given their workrate and in Seamus case age. Diarmuid Healy is raw but by Christ is he talented, hopefully we will give him a bit of game time soon and then a start. Ben Cunningham still remains a viable option to me if he can get back fit. He’s more a Seamus than Decky type but I think fellas underestimate how hard he works too. Outside of them I wonder where we are going to find an alternative.

Watch any Midleton game and he’ll give away 2/3 points due to poor decision making with his distribution. Again that’s down to inexperience and he will become more consistent with time but at the moment Collins is on another level. I would expect Collins to reach Nicky Quaid standard in the next 4/5 years. Certainly had the potential to anyway.

If anyone give Sean Desmond a decent shot, he is unmark-able in club hurling over the last few years, he naturally distributes ball, looks to be potentially lacking confidence but has plenty in locker when it comes to it.
I saw him give Clare's Rory Hayes a bit of a run around in the Munster club championship earlier in the winter.

Completely different to inter county I know but surely that would warrant giving him a chance especially after the season he had with club and division.
