Cork Hurlers - Part 2

100%
Crowd around us were largely silent.
Saw a lad from Clare cross over to the Cork section at the end, punch some Cork supporter on the shoulder and bellow something in his ear. There were kids in the Clare section giving the finger to the Cork crowd when Clare scored the first goal.
My Kids were in the terrace, there was a load of to and fro about kelly and hoggie being shite and finished and all the rest but they never felt in the least bit concerned or intimidated by cork supporters or vice versa. It was really well behaved where they were. 18 year old lad and a 17 year old girl

Have to say Conor Lehane is a good egg. Up in CUH today visiting the children when he could have easily thrown the toys out of the pram getting no game time over 90 mins Sunday. A decade of service given to Cork deserves a lot of respect
He won’t get it on here. The premiership boys on here live in the moment. Conor got an awful raw deal after the Waterford game, we could have done with him against Limerick and again on Sunday. He has given us a decade of service. I for one salute the guy

Yep, said this before, we seem to be refereed differently by pretty much every ref. We are probably the cleanest team in hurling so hard to understand how we got most red and black cards in Munster. That pull across Barrett's head not even being a free is incomprehensible, and would undoubtedly be dealt with differently if it was the other way around. Also pretty much finished Shane for the rest of the game. This wasn't a subtle foul, it happened in broad daylight in front of 82k people 1 referee and a very close linesman. Probably Murphy's worst dereliction of duty on the day. Missed 65 probably umpires fault and he was probably blindsided for late jersey tug. Job done Conlon.
I agree with you. When I saw there was a referee from Limerick I knew we’d have trouble. We have been reffed by James Owens, Walsh and Murphy…. Seen red cards, disallowed goals but we do nothing about it… just stop whining about referee. Until VAR in introduced we won’t get a break. Counties like Limerick, Wexford and Kilkenny despise us, and this is carried through to referees!

cant agree with that. His endurance to stay going is admirable but at the height of his powers he was not a concern for opposition.
You could easily have him on a side like Limerick Kilkenny or Clare where there are ball winners up front but in this cork team he is essentially another mouth to feed.
Using him against offaly instead of using O Flynn, O connor or Kingston was a real error i think

At the height of his powers he wasn’t a concern for opposition? I’ve heard it all now???

And not using him to replace Dalton and instead plumping for Kingston or O Connor was a much bigger mistake

Niall gave that poor 12 year old child some beating didn’t he…

Re Clares influence on the ref.
we mustnt be paying the few quid to the right lads

Since the black card was introduced we have 4 got which is double the closest others i think

one was the insane call out on the ennis road in favour of tipp in 2021

the second was in 23 against tipp in ennis which was what the rule was invented for

the third was a ludicrous call against mark Rodgers in the league final by johnny murphy

in a game he didnt black card for a rugby tackle by Tommy Walsh

the fourth was when rory o connor went to ground after mcinerney fouled him with 4 clare players there
