Cork Hurlers - Part 2

Limerick will win one more , maybe 2 and that will be that for a decade.
Haven't grown the team, let the underage get stagnant.
Difficult for young lads to break into that team over the last 6 years given the quality of players in situ, unless you’re an exceptional talent like O Neill.
I’m happy enough that there are 4 or 5 lads pushing for a start next year
Anyway when you aren’t one of DA BIG TREE lol we’d be ok with one or two AIs a decade

The ref screwed us and if he didn't we may well have won. However, we also screwed ourselves through bad tactics, bad prep and some people not being 100%. You cannot control the first point but you can control the second. This is where energy should be. We were screwed out of a win 2013 too by ref. Why do people refuse to learn lessons and be so naive? For a county like Cork you have to win by margins that the ref can't get you. Once it was a close match like that we were doomed. I'm as angry as anyone else but have learnt through experience that it is wasted energy. That said, I would like our county board to really kick up a fuss behind the scenes. Management, players and fans should move on, but the board should demand so kind of redress and accountability. In terms of our own failings, the biggest disappointment was the failure to stop goals. My biggest white pill going into match was that at least we had some physicality and spine unlike 2013 and clare wouldn't waltz through us again. How wrong I was, it was like deja vu. I can get over the half forward line being cleaned out. Things will go wrong. The failure of management to re adjust is a worry. So lack of steel in defence and slow management response.
Clare were that bit better if we’re honest because we allowed them to be for the reasons you outlined. This team gave us some great moments this year and the way the Cork crowd backed them was something I haven’t witnessed in decades. We will and can get better and I truly believe we can get there with this team. A final thought on our comments about players, at least they put themselves in the position to make mistakes. Corcaigh Abu.

Here here..
But also this is a Cork supporters forum annd supporters are very much part of the whole system. Without supporters nothing happens so they are entitled to their opinion.
Views here (bar the obvious trolls) are made in good faith and generally respectful I think.

I personally was pleased not to see any of the short puck outs on Sunday. We tried it loads of times in the S/F against Limerick and all it brought was hurried back passes to Collins, followed by rushed clearances, resulting in Limerick scores.

We need ball winning half forwards and midfielders who will at least gain parity with their markers on the puck outs. PR will learn from this defeat and look to address our failings, turning them into our strengths.

Great to see the team so well supported all year. Sunday was a fantastic occasion and as Jarlath Burns said, it truly is a unique and wonderful celebration of Irish culture. Where else would you get 83K people mingling shoulder to shoulder and still able to shake hands at the end, win, lose or draw?

I believe we re getting closer to the holy grail. We came out the wrong side of some poor refereeing decisions.

Nonetheless, hurling needs a strong Clare team and I wish them well celebrating their success this year. A merited award to some stalwarts of the game, TK, JC, SOD and Lohan.

We will be back stronger next year and as TK said in his speech, we will kick the door in to take what is ours.

Corcaigh Abu!

Besides, winning the All Ireland after twenty years sounds better than nineteen. "Twenty" rolls off the tongue better, you know, for all the songs and poetry we'll need to write this time next year.
