Cork Hurlers - Part 2

Right lads there's been 200+ plus pages since Saturday night and I am just not gonna go through so apologies if already been said.

Obviously huge disappointment, gutted absolutely gutted.
I've yet to watch back the game or acknowledge any posts/clips on social media bar Downey's goal, Tony Kelly's goal and the jersey pull.
After Clare hit their purple patch after about 15 mins they kept tipping away and kept the pressure on us.
They did their homework on the pucks our half forwards were not as effective as they were previously.
It was fine margins and rub of the green for Clare too.
Murphy overall tbf had an ok game in my opinion minus a few pro Clare decisions, not calling the black card as it was (it's been given for less) and obviously the jersey pull.
Murphy's performance did start to dip after he got the knock and could see he was getting physically tired, he was not cut out for Extra Time at all.
There's a reason they have the reserve ref.
How Murphy was appointed anyway is beyond me should not have been a Munster ref.

I will like I said earlier in the year now eat my words and apologise. I was critical of Pat Ryan at the start of the year with his selections and tactics for the Waterford and Clare games and said going on previous treatments of likes of Meyler and Kingston they were called out for much less.
However when our backs were to the wall he stepped up and made those changes (some of which were highlighted by myself and others)
The 15 he chose were our best, plain and simple.
At the start I may have suggested other players etc and a few of us debated some positions but I was proved wrong.
I am also delighted to say I've been proved wrong and eat my words about Pat Ryan, I am as I said disappointed but very proud of the year the lads had and the memories they gave us.
Thanks for the year.
We'll be back again, no fear.

The reason you won on Sunday was because of the genius moments from TK and SOD, coupled with well coached well executed but cynical defending.
Clearly not on your last legs but the drive for 2 is far from certain.
If we don't take Limerick out for ye you'll be broken by them again.
That's possible but the flip side is we have beaten them in Limerick and been really close at other times.
The confidence of this could be the change we need

This thread quickly descends into many many posts from empty vessels over the winter. I see already that those who were bemoaning the lack of horsing big balls into our forwards over the years are now bemoaning that exact strategy on Sunday.
Of course if we played it short(we should have and down the wings and into midfield as well) they would be shouting about tippy tappy hurling.

Hopefully the club scene is vibrant next month(have already bought the pass) and we can unearth a few diamonds for next year because our bench needs to be a lot stronger.

So that's it for another season.

See you all next year.
I’m not aware on anyone making the points you are suggesting.
The consensus amongst the stats men and analysts is that it was our tactic of going long constantly with the pucks outs & inability/refusal to adjust and adapt to what was happening was our downfall

Great post!

Something I really noticed at the game as well. I was trying to keeps tabs on who was picking up which Clare forwards - it was impossible, they kept switching.

Totally agree on Downey! In fact the two Downeys are absolute gems! And both of them are well able to give it out. Imagine them in a few years when they pack on a bit of muscle!! Tough as nails!

I have to say, as good as the atmosphere was on Sunday it was missing that raw emotion from many in the crowd. I was sitting next to a young fella from Aghada, myself and him were living and dying each puck of the ball but many around us............not so much.

Semi-final was a better atmosphere in my opinion!
Agreed: Semi-final was a better atmosphere. And they normally are.

A lot of people jump on the band wagon for the All Ireland final who'd hardly go to a match all year. E.g. less than 40 thousand turned up for the KK v. Clare semi a few weeks ago.

Very ungracious as our Clare poster was just offering his take on Cork situation.

While it is hard to take advice from a county who were in the shadows so long, there is no doubt they are kingpins at present and are to be commended for it.

Jamesy o Connor was on newstalk Monday night.

Hilarious comments.

Ya, it was a free but the ref was right not to give it.
Ya, it was a sending off but it would ve been against the spirit of the game to send him off.

Bollocks talk
And this bluffer gets paid to spout this rubbish. That’s up there with the below after Kilkenny lost to Cork in 2013, with Henry Shefflin being sent off.

Limerick will win one more , maybe 2 and that will be that for a decade.
Haven't grown the team, let the underage get stagnant.
Difficult for young lads to break into that team over the last 6 years given the quality of players in situ, unless you’re an exceptional talent like O Neill.
I’m happy enough that there are 4 or 5 lads pushing for a start next year
Anyway when you aren’t one of DA BIG TREE lol we’d be ok with one or two AIs a decade
