Cork Hurlers - Part 2

I am still massively disappointed after losing on Sunday.

However the fact remains that the future looks brighter for Cork than any other county.

Last Sunday there were ten players under 25 on the pitch at different times, nine under 24.
I felt also that Paudie Power should have been brought on.

Clare are a much older, much more experienced team are it was the older players in Cleary,Conon,Kelly and O Donnell who were key for them, all over thirty.

The young lads from Cork should learn from this experience and in a few weeks when this is behind them they will refocus on next year.

Hopefully as well we will see Cunningham, Mullins and possibly even Healy have an impact next year also.

There are no guarantees in sport but there can be no doubt the future looks bright

That O bama lad is some bulshit merchant.
Wouldn’t say he is involved in sport in any capacity whatsoever as he hasn’t a clue.
Reams of posts cribbing about the ref, then a weird monologue about us being nailed on for Liam McCathy next year.
Then he is asks for ex players union to be formed to change the rules of hurling because of a little tug of a jersey.
Now he thinks JP tapped up refs to stop short puck outs as it cost Limerick 5 in a row.
This guy lives in cloud cuckoo land ??
The guy who manufactured a bullshit conspiracy about Hoggies point scoring record is in no position to complain about anyone else's take on anything here.

Or you could just confirm or deny I guess.

I have no skin in the same, except that if you did report him for using the c word that's a bit pathetic, that's all I'm saying.
I did deny it in a previous posts. Why would I bother reporting a lad for that? I doubt you could even get banned for that for god sake

That's the saccharin pill to help get over yesterday, but the fact is we start again next year at the bottom of the hill and with a tougher draw to get out of Munster then this year.
Can we beat Limk or Clare in their home place? Will Tipp find something and come to the Pairc full of piss and vinegar and turn us over like Waterford did in April?...no one knows right now, if we get out of Munster we could open up again and then the rhythm of '04 & '05 might take hold, but we are back to the bottom of the hill again and looking at a steeper climb.
On a different note, does anyone know if there's any chance that Ben O'Connor (Newtown) might join the backroom team next year given he stepped down from the U20 gig, wondering if Donal O'Rourke might be part of whatever Waterford coaching ticket gets ratified, and a coaching position opens up?
Tipp are shite.
All their "young players " will be 25 26 next year.

Gearoid o Connor and Bryan O Mara are the same age as Diarmuid Ryan and a year older than Aidan McCarthy.

They are going nowhere

Enjoy the victory m8.

But let's not pretend that a dreadful ref wasn't a huge part of it.
Cork lost so every call hurts.
Murphy made some ludicrous calls in your favour as well.

Firstly his calls on frees kept cork in the game in the second half.
The free out when Shanagher caught the ball was absolutely nuts.
If you watch hurling until you are 150 you will never again see a free like it.
Shanagher was chopped down by Downey as well minutes before Murphy gave a free out for the same offence when he committed it.

Those decisions are not relevant now because we won.

That's the reality.

It's tough but there you go.
The Liam Gordon call in last years Munster final was worse because Gordon actually saw it and didn't give it.

Murphy gave the free v Shan in normal time, he would have given that if he saw it.
Leen is on the wrong side for Murphy to see it and it was a split second

The ref screwed us and if he didn't we may well have won. However, we also screwed ourselves through bad tactics, bad prep and some people not being 100%. You cannot control the first point but you can control the second. This is where energy should be. We were screwed out of a win 2013 too by ref. Why do people refuse to learn lessons and be so naive? For a county like Cork you have to win by margins that the ref can't get you. Once it was a close match like that we were doomed. I'm as angry as anyone else but have learnt through experience that it is wasted energy. That said, I would like our county board to really kick up a fuss behind the scenes. Management, players and fans should move on, but the board should demand so kind of redress and accountability. In terms of our own failings, the biggest disappointment was the failure to stop goals. My biggest white pill going into match was that at least we had some physicality and spine unlike 2013 and clare wouldn't waltz through us again. How wrong I was, it was like deja vu. I can get over the half forward line being cleaned out. Things will go wrong. The failure of management to re adjust is a worry. So lack of steel in defence and slow management response.
