Cork Hurlers - Part 2

Teddy wasn't exactly neutral when it comes to getting an opinion on the strikes, he was forced to resign as selector. I find it astonishing that people think what the strikers did had a negative impact on the standards of player we produced in the past ten years. Surely that was due to the actions or inaction more correctly of the CCB.
Teddy was on one side of the later strikes as was Sean Og, Tom Kenny et al.
All have expressed regret and the impacts on Cork hurling.
The 02 strike was roundly supported and positives came from that., The 08/09 strike was the opposite.
Sport is opinions..

The last one especially had an impact in so far as that the attention of the players, Co Board and the county in general was focused on resolving the strike rather than focusing on minor and u21 teams. It’s not the main reason we fell off a cliff but it is one of them. The rot had already set in.

Ah Jesus now you’re clutching at straws.
So if for example in your club if the Senior teams (whether it be senior, intermediate or junior) were to walk off the pitch the committee would turn all their focus on that and they would neglect underage?

The reason was the county board didn’t want to upset their buddies coaching the U21’s and didn’t want to upset their buddies sons who got a place because of it.

The strike solved nothing ,only a few years ago the footballers were training in a warehouse that they had to find themselves and when Cairde Corcai was set up to help fund the football training, the CCB when they saw what money was been collected they insisted on it been split 50/50.Things are a lot better now.
Anyone think that Frank would have given J Cleary permission to hire Kevin Walsh is living in cloud cuckoo land

It distracts the focus of the whole club. To say it doesn’t hurt, even marginally is not true.

What players got places on Cork teams because their fathers were buddies with Co Board men?

You are comparing a club team walking off the pitch with the impact of the Cork county strikes over 5 years? Nonsensical
Look.. you just don’t understand or can’t understand maybe..
