and i agreed it would have beenYou keep saying it could have happened. I've never suggested otherwise. What I'm saying is that letting him go after a year would have been stupid, that was obvious at the time to anyone paying attention.
For me the bottom line is this, if Pat wanted a 4th year I think he deserved it and should have been offered it and the board should have let him change whatever he needed to change and keep whatever he needed to keep but that should have been Pats choice, no one elsesWe disagree on that, which is fair enough imo. That was a tough situation for everyone involved. Ryan had done Trojan work, brought the team on massively compared to what he had inherited, and earned the players' trust - but equally there were clear signs of fragility which had been brutally exposed, and to which the management set-up did not seem to have an answer. Either way you look at it, v different to Limerick in 2017.
I felt after the 2025 final that we were really close and that then was not the time to uproot everything Pat built and start again. Had we failed again this year under Pat then his time was up and the teams time was up. But im not sure we would have failed to be honest
But we are where we are now and after 1 year as manager Ben has a huge question to answer, stick with the tried and trusted or go with youth and build again. It will be fascinating watching what Ben goes with
