Lads I don’t think our ultimate problem is at 3. I honestly believe we have enough decent players who can play there and have done so already. If we don’t figure out the 10/11/12 positions then we’re heading for another 24/25/26 season. I know there’s no simple solution but that doesn’t mean you leave any stone unturned. I know Hegartys/Duggans don’t grow on trees but that’s what we’re missing and unless we find one, we could have the best full back and goalie in the world yet the ball would still be coming back twice as fast. People have mentioned Alan Walsh, Rob Downey and I think that’s the kind of thinking we need. Hopefully the club championship might throw up someone.

Reading back on your post, more carefully this time, I see it was Damien.

This isn’t specifically directed at you, but I think some people here are a bit over-confident that Joyce was the solution and is a brilliant full back.
Was it 3 matches he played there? One of those being a league match against Offaly.
He did well and it looked promising, but I think that’s about all we can say considering he’s played so little in that position.

Correct and the FB line was the least of our problems this year. I think the only game Damo was in trouble this year was Galway, the one game where he was left isolated 1 on 1, which was not his fault.

Agreed, all 3 of our starters had good years.
That’s being said, Damien will be 35 next year so hopefully Joyce and DOL are fit next summer.

I think it's a pointless discussion in many ways but as long as you don't go down the road of sledging lads, I think it's fine.
