A few posters calling for individual players to be jettisoned as if it was all their fault

While we do need some new young blood and a reset on where we are Im not sure we will see too many changes next year

Id be more focused on us getting in a top class coach, selectors who will have more open minds and a more balanced approach to picking our teams

Without them we can make 15 changes and it wont make a blind bit of difference

This isn’t specifically directed at you, but I think some people here are a bit over-confident that Joyce was the solution and is a brilliant full back.
Was it 3 matches he played there? One of those being a league match against Offaly.
He did well and it looked promising, but I think that’s about all we can say considering he’s played so little in that position.
Hopefully his recovery is going well and he can be looked at there again next spring.

From memory I think it was Offaly, Limerick in league final, Tipp first round Munster, and then the injury came in the opening minutes of Limerick match in Round 2 of Munster.
So 3 matches + 3 or 4 mins of a fourth.
Again he played well there in a new position, but 3 matches (with only 1 being championship) is too little evidence in my opinion that he’ll be our full back going forward.

yeah i think you’re right, Offaly was the first game and i knew he went off early against Limerick but got the games wrong

I agree he played well there and it will be interesting to see where Ben plays him next year

That said if Ben sees him at 3 play him there every game to bed into the position

Cahalane could well be at 3 again next year. I thought he played well this year, albeit Rabbitte caused him trouble in the semi final.
The freedom that Galway got taking shots from close to midfield in the second half can’t be blamed on Damien.
But it’s clear that he wasn’t first choice FB at the start of the year and that will probably be the same for 2027. DOL started the first 5 league matches I think before he got niggly injuries. Then Joyce got injured.

Actually thinking back Cahalane barely played any league at all this year. I think he played one match. R&B can you remember if he was injured?
I’m pretty sure he wasn’t even making the subs for most of those matches. I remember thinking at the time that he must either be unavailable for selection or was nowhere near making the team.

I dont think Damien was injured, Ben done the right thing trying Daire O Leary first at 3 and sticking with him afterwards until he got injured and then we never saw him again

Damien can not play for a while and still do a good job when he comes in, not many can do that in fairness to him
