I said it myself when he was appointed. There’s a bang of a Davy Fitz about him and it was gonna go one of 2 ways:

1. We get a bounce out of him in year one and the wheels come off then

2. The whole thing becomes a shit show in year 1.

I'm curious, is there a record anywhere of you saying this?

Also, on the HOC fans here, that’s the type of player we did our best to move away from, yet it’s Bens one bolter for the year.

Not sure what type of player you mean, but I think O'Connor has a lot to offer, and he did grand for his first season.

As regards Ben's bolters, you'd have to include Barry Walsh and Bucks as well.

No record as I am new here. It was just pub talk really from me, which holds the same weight as any opinion here I might add.

On Bucks and BW, they are well known products of our underage system who people thought would come through. I meant bolter as in a left fielder.

I mean a light, fast, Cathal Naughton type on HOC.

Few enough. That said, I think he would have been worth including on the bench for his long-range striking (both dead ball and play) and his physical presence.

His post that I replied to said plan B which was dropping the ball on half forward line.

Our current halfback are all capable of shooting from distance if allowed.

How many long range frees did we get and miss all year?

I must say I'm a bit perplexed at the level to which Declan Dalton has been a cause celebre this year.

He's a fine player with obvious strengths and equally obvious weaknesses like all players but at the end of it all he's a guy in his late 20s who was among the worst performers in our last two all Ireland final defeats and didn't impress in early league rounds. He was one of the few cork starters from both 24 and 25 not to be nominated for an Allstar, for all that means. Certainly you could make a case that he could have had more opportunities but it's not like we're talking about Brian Hayes here either.

If he can't be dropped by a management team without the conspiracy machine going into overdrive then we might as well just let the 2025 team tog away out until they don't want to play anymore.

I agree there was way too much talk about him but I do think it was unfair he was the one fella frozen out from the Pat Ryan era. Plenty of fellas had 2 disaster AI finals and don’t get the same treatment, TOM, Rob Downey, Connolly, SOD all had two shockers in the finals but started again this year.

I’m not having the he didn’t impress in the league and that’s why he was dropped either. He was excellent vs Waterford, ok v Galway and poor vs Tipp. He’s the best free taker we have yet never got a chance on them, an inferior free taker got free rein over them. We’re told he’s too slow for Bens style of play at WF, well what use was our pace against Galway. If Cork won the AI Ben was right and Dalton could suck it up, when we lost it’s fair to question if mistakes were made there.

That would be one plan B. I was pointing out that there are others, and more generally that having Dalton on the bench would offer the possibility of a slightly different approach if required.

Couldn't give an exact figure on either, but I do recall Tim's radar being pretty wobbly on occasion (v Tipp springs to mind).

Same players last year, different manage, same result.
I in fact think both players, manager and backroom team are all equally or close to equally responsible.
Any other take is nuts.

Probably not but adequate from the line they are on unless you are suggesting playing DD between FB and HB line for shooting from play( not frees)

All those players you mentioned most certainly did not have two shockers in the finals.
TOM was one of our best players in the 2024 final. Rob Downey played decent too.
SOD did a really good job on Jason Forde last year when all was going to shit around him.
