I think if we were to keep it really simple we could sum it up as this.

The players felt huge pressure and expectation and when the going got tough in both games lacked the composure to stay in the game.

I remember posters on here saying the game was only a question of how much we would beat Tipp by.
Huge numbers went up without tickets to be there for Hoggie to win his ALL Ireland.

Is that right Meanach?
By the way, has there always been a bit of a lack in you?
Was your mother always a bit disappointed in the way you turned out?

I don’t think they learned enough. When it was going against them on Saturday they did nothing to slow the game down. Even start an aul row or something.

I'll make an exception for this post as you have replied directly to me but after reading the first few of your posts I came across I chose to ignore everything you post since.

Just watched the game back, the 5 minutes before half time were huge for Galway, 4 point swing left just 1 between us and then the opening 10minutes of the second half they pulverised us

0-10 min Galway 1-4 Cork 0-4
Cork are foung ok, patiently looking for ball into space, great ball into Brian Hayes who is on fire, Galway very very dangerous already, worked a good goal

10-20 min Galway 1-7 Cork 0-9
Game even enough still, cork beginning to overplay ball in full backline, Duds had a great goal chance, game starting to open up

20-30 min Cork 1-12 Galway 1-7
Alan Walsh gets his 2nd ball, goal! Hayes on his 5th point, Tommy dropping deeper and spraying ball well. Galway not as productive. going forward. Cork on top

30-35 minutes Cork 1-13 Galway 1-12
Big turnaround in Galways favour in 5 minutes. Damo gets a yellow. Cork going longer on puckouts, not working. Galway start pushing up on Cork puckouts Sean very lucky to only get a yellow. All to play for

35-45 min Galway 1-19 Cork 1-14
Cormac on. Lazy Yellow for Fitzy in 1st minute. Galway scoring from midfield, Cork trying to work it in, Full press from Galway. Cork struggling on short & long puckouts. Galway defence on top

45-55 min Galway 1-23 Cork 1-16
Galway sense blood, totally dominant in winning ball, Robbie on. Cork all over the place tactically. William in. Barry in. Hayes with his 7th. William point, game is turning. Fitzy sent off

55-65 min Galway 1-24 Cork 1-17
Long ball to Hayes, 21 yard free, point. 6 in it. Good contest now. Cork overplaying the ball. Ger is on.. Shane wastes easy point going for goal., No coherence in fowards. goal chance for Shane saved, Patrick saves shot for goal. Panic setting in

65-70 min Galway 2-26 Cork 1-18
Galway dominant, no composure by our fowards, wide after wide, Stupid mistake by Sean leads to a Galway goal. Game over

The big difference was the tactics and hunger but Galways long range point scoring ability told a story

That’s a good point about “Paddy Power paying out on Cork to win the All Ireland just after the league final”.
It wasn’t Corks fault but it fed into the arrogance of the many Cork fans who had virtually accepted that they would win the All Ireland last year and imo it seeped into the team and management!
I remember speaking with Cork fans I know for years after the Dublin game and they were carried away by it all. Men in their 50’s and 60’s who were cagey down the years were now telling me that they didn’t care who won the other semi final between Tipperary and Kilkenny because the final would only be fulfilling a fixture!
How can these people think like that after all they lost over the previous 20 years? Cork are a team that when they win one the monkey will be off the back and they will win multiple All Irelands but they will need to win one soon for the likes of Darragh Fitzgibbon and co to get the medal they crave.

They were thinking Limerick were gone so it was an easy all ireland for us

He wasn't 100% fit so he shouldn't start..also his best position is in the half back not midfield

Tommy missed the first 5 minutes of the warm up, fcukin amateur hour if we were playing injured players

Tommys best position at inter county is midfield and he will play there for years

I mentioned this the other day.
One of the oldest tricks in the book is for a player to go down and try and stop the opposition’s momentum.
I even gave Quaid as an example of this!

Now what do you think Cork learned from last year’s hammering by Tipperary when you mentioned above that you think they didn’t learn enough?
