Lads, 2 things have struck me as the fog begins to clear

1 - The All Ireland Championship is being played in a different way to Munster. Munster is a brilliant competition but it is wide open and almost carefree, devoid of negative tactics. Once you reach Croke Park teams come with their full tactical plan and fair fucks to them for that but we still want to play munster hurling

2 - I said months ago the only way we could beat Limerick is if we bring the chaos, (its a bit laughable now considering we are out of the championship but anyway), we have brought no chaos this year, i would say we are more playing in a straight jacket if anything

Yes, fair amount of truth in that - big difference between tactics in the games that were played over the weekend & Munster.
I'd add to that the Leinster champions, be it KK or Galway will always be more defensively set up and defence minded.
They also have a MASSIVE chip on the shoulder over the perceived lack of respect for Leinster

We have too much support and the support is too quiet and then the support is too cocky…….fellas outside cork tiring themselves in knots over finding a reason to criticise supporters, incredible stuff
We do have some absolute beauties of pundits however it has to be said, landers- enough said there obviously, seems happy to play up to dalys sneering, Cusack who is hated outside the county and within to an extent and comes out with classic about Tipp ….never mind one of our poorest performing players coming out with classics about winning everything ….:..get a to class coach, tell the examiner to fuck off, select a small number of players to speak to media and say nothing, say nothing about referees and have an honest appraisal of the squad including reviewing how senior players have
Performed in croke park over the last number of years when the heat has come on……get a few of those right and we might be a small bit better the last year and perhaps less likely to absolutely collapse again once a team puts a small bit of pressure on them

If your talking about cutting back on interactions with the media, the first one that needs to stop is right at the Top Table.
He seems to like a good old interview.

Yeah he’s due a report on how hurling in the city is struggling while doing the report from one of the Big 3. Marty should have been retired by RTÉ years ago.

Galways tactical plan is in place since February. There was nothing there we should not have expected. Unfortunately we were drastically under prepared. Oceans of space 80 yards out. We clearly have our own gameplan but give little enough thought to the oppositions one. Modern hurling is retreat get 13 bodies in your own half and attack on mass. We HAVE to adapt

Disagree with you about TOM and DF.
TOC was a great inclusion this year as he added support to our halfback line, which allowed TOM just go everywhere clattering fellas. DF then allowed to do what he does best - attack.

Also I think management adapted to Galway not going toe to toe with us as you say by playing more possesion based game in the first half. Which worked!

The problems arose in the second half, when Galway pushed up on us - we couldn't win a puckout, couldn't win a long ball played into the forwards. Did we even try a mid-range puck out??

And most importantly we didn't have the workrate and intensity to compete for breaking ball and dirty ball in the middle!!!

Galway won every 50/50 in the second half!!!

I can’t agree with you on TOC.
Do you remember this year’s Munster hurling final?
He was poor to say the least!
Galway didn’t win every 50/50 in the second half.
Galway won because they had a plan with many parts and Cork let them implement it.
Cork have some brilliant hurlers but they need some leaders who can get the best out of these brilliant hurlers and get over the winning line. Too many of the Cork hurlers went missing on Saturday and this wasn’t the first time happening! Some of them should be moved along and replace them with young upcoming talent who will make it quicker than you think.
Finally, Darragh Fitzgibbon is a great hurler with a great engine and imo the Cork team should be built around him. He’s the solution and the sooner the management realise this and get more workers around him the better.

It's funny hearing everyone talking about a crisis in Cork because they've failed to reach a final for the first time in 7 competitions..
All Ireland, League, Munster, All Ireland, League & Munster consecutively...only reach Semi final then of an All Ireland and it is a crisis.

If Ben had played fully fit players in midfield like Roche & O'Connor instead of injured or unfit lads .. and started Buckley as well then I'm sure we'd in an another final and there's be no crisis at all..

The margins are very small and a lot of waffle gets spoken about in the aftermath as people over analyse the whole thing.
Some garbage coming out this week from pundits blaming trains and not showing up to homecoming as the reason for a made up "crisis".

Cork will be there or there about with the top of the pack again next year and with smarter sidelines game management can hopefully take the final step needed.

We were outshot by an aggregate of 89 to 55 in the past two matches. That's not down to "mindset" "picking different players" "having heart" etc it's blatantly obviously we don't a system of play that cuts it at the business in big matches.

absolutely and not being prepared for Galway was inexcusable but we need to be able to adapt during games too and we failed badly there too

The plan to “get 13 bodies in your own half and attack on mass” doesn’t tell the whole story about the hammering Cork received by Galway!
I’m getting the feeling that this point is lost by some posters on here!

I got vilified on here during the league for saying exactly this, every time we played Limerick bar the round robin we got found out

we should have tweaked what we had last year which was 90% of the way there but instead we tore up the core values of what Pat built and got found out badly

I really thought Ben would play 2 inside from the first league game with the other one going out midfield, I was stunned when he didnt

Get tactically cute and find a better balance to our team with warriors in the middle 8 and we may be back, dont and we will get found out again
