Awesome team.??Let me put it to you this way. In a Munster final where we were tactically destroyed by a superior team than Galway ( 13 shots off from play that day and 1-1 being our only tally from play in the second half ) …. We managed to lose by a single point, and on a better day could and should have levelled the game. How ? Spirit , attitude , relentless fight .
Let’s bring the same scenario to croke park in an ai semi final. do we or have we ever shown the same qualities in situations like this ?
Rob Downey being bundled over the line for a turnover, TOM trying to force a one handed stick pass out to his ff line surrounded by 3 Galway backs for another easy turnover, and Shane Barrett forcing a goal that was never on when we were only 6 down with 10 minutes of normal time left. 3 second half scenarios - off the top of my head - that these players simply would not allow happen on the stage of a Munster championship game.
The reality is we have an awesome team. I truly believe that. But in croke park when the chips are down fellas make decisions they would never make in pairc ui caoimh or miss tackles they would never miss in Thurles.
Tactics didn’t help. But again, if Galway set up like that v us in any other stage , there’s no way these players don’t figure something out to stem the tide.
nail on the headThe "not working hard enough" label was stuck on Hoggie, though nobody could question his hurling intelligence, so he's gone. Deccie Dalton seems to have suffered a bit from the "he doesn't work hard enough" accusation as well. But "working hard" comes in different packages. It's not all about who racked up the most kilometers on their sat nav. What actual closing down was done? What discipline was shown so as not to concede a "stupid free" and allow their defence out? What shadowing of their attackers was there and was it on the right side? What effective drawing your marker away to let your team-mate a better run? What physical blows were taken when you put your body on the line to stop them emerging with the ball? What bravery was shown to get the ball?
There's a lot of different types of hard work, and an over-emphasis on run, run, run won't win us anything imho
I admire your positivity and would agree if this was a once off freak result, much like the way I felt after last years final.It's funny hearing everyone talking about a crisis in Cork because they've failed to reach a final for the first time in 7 competitions..
All Ireland, League, Munster, All Ireland, League & Munster consecutively...only reach Semi final then of an All Ireland and it is a crisis.
If Ben had played fully fit players in midfield like Roche & O'Connor instead of injured or unfit lads .. and started Buckley as well then I'm sure we'd in an another final and there's be no crisis at all..
The margins are very small and a lot of waffle gets spoken about in the aftermath as people over analyse the whole thing.
Some garbage coming out this week from pundits blaming trains and not showing up to homecoming as the reason for a made up "crisis".
Cork will be there or there about with the top of the pack again next year and with smarter sidelines game management can hopefully take the final step needed.

I'm saying that your trying to make it an either or is simplistic. As Ringy said it wasn't because of the County Board suits that Cork won so much back in the day, it was in spite of them.

absolutely but if they push players up on our 2 wing backs that creats a little more room for our 2 wing fowards to drop into space and get on the ball. Its a game of chess lads and we got caught with checkmate on thisI think the opposition needs to be taken into account, they know who our better ball players are and push up on them to make the possibility of receiving the puck out very difficult and set traps for players they feel they can turnover high up the pitch
