Are there any decent hurling fixtures in east cork/ cork in the next 2 weeks?, tried searching my local clubs page but couldn’t find anything

Can anyone honestly say they are surprised with the result on Saturday? The sending off made no difference, the result would of been the same. The core group of players are ultimately not good enough, and have proven it multiple times over the last number of years. When the shit hits the fan, they crumble. Cork are ultimately a flat track team. When other counties are not performing at an All-Ireland semi-final level earlier in the year they blow them away.
Momentum is massive in sport and in 2024 Cork peaked at the right time and were unlucky not to win it, but when the game came down the home straight they didn't have the bottle to get over the line. They rode the back of that momentum and walked the league last year.
The 25 final vs Tipp summed up this team, and for large number of these players: O'Leary, Coleman, Fitz, Tim OM, Kingston, O'Flynn they went missing when huge favorites, much like they did in 2018 U21 final against Tipp also. Huge favourites and they went missing, that was the start of it.
Cahalane FB comes back on the management. Huge respect for him, and he has given so much, but we were not good enough to win anything with him for 10 years and yet there he is lining out at 3 in an All-Ireland semi final.
It won't stop me supporting them, or complaining about them going forward, but we are a number of players away yet I fear.

Pat Ryan on the Irish Independent hurling podcast: “With him (Walsh) reffing, Limerick haven’t the greatest record the last couple of years, not his fault now… I hope they don’t allow puck-outs to go off too quick in a game like this… you want to see the contests… sometimes the refs are allowing the ball out that bit too quick. If the contests come into it a bit more, it won’t allow teams go score for score, break for break.”

Dowling on RTÉ hurling podcast: “I saw a stat the other day, I think Limerick have lost six of the seven games he’s refereed. Not because of how he referees it, but the one thing he does allow is these ferociously quick puck-outs. Eibhear Quilligan is going to be aware of that and as soon as the ball goes dead, more so when it’s a wide than a score, he’s going to get that ball out as quick as possible. Remove trying to win your own puck-out, hitting it long down on Diarmuid (Byrnes), Kyle (Hayes) or William (O’Donoghue).”
On Sunday, Walsh stopped Quilligan from rapid starts on at least a couple of occasions.

Right..... if tactics count for max 5 points, do you think if Galway had not worked and executed the very specific tactic of putting 13 men in their own half to double and treble up on our attack, that they'd have still won the game but only by about 5 or 6 points?

Let me put it to you this way. In a Munster final where we were tactically destroyed by a superior team than Galway ( 13 shots off from play that day and 1-1 being our only tally from play in the second half ) …. We managed to lose by a single point, and on a better day could and should have levelled the game. How ? Spirit , attitude , relentless fight .

Let’s bring the same scenario to croke park in an ai semi final. do we or have we ever shown the same qualities in situations like this ?

Rob Downey being bundled over the line for a turnover, TOM trying to force a one handed stick pass out to his ff line surrounded by 3 Galway backs for another easy turnover, and Shane Barrett forcing a goal that was never on when we were only 6 down with 10 minutes of normal time left. 3 second half scenarios - off the top of my head - that these players simply would not allow happen on the stage of a Munster championship game.

The reality is we have an awesome team. I truly believe that. But in croke park when the chips are down fellas make decisions they would never make in pairc ui caoimh or miss tackles they would never miss in Thurles.

Tactics didn’t help. But again, if Galway set up like that v us in any other stage , there’s no way these players don’t figure something out to stem the tide.

Yeah, it was hilariously obvious last week.

Verney and Mullane were pissing themselves at Pat Ryan and I even thought Pat Ryan (who I like as a pundit) sounded a bit sheepish bringing it up.
