I think people are more nervous about this game because of the absence of TOC and the possible/likely absences of TOM , ROF and DF.


Four players missing is a lot and will certainly eat into the subs bench. As well the possibility of having a completely new midfield pair isn't ideal.
If none of the players mentioned above are starting then we could easily see Hugh O Connor and Brian Roche filling those positions.
Mark Coleman could also move forward and Cormac O Brien or Ger Millerick start at wing back.

Of Course if Declan Dalton is fit it could be the ideal game to get him up to speed having missed so much already.

I wouldn’t completely rule out the potential for a loss, but it would be the worse day for Cork hurling in decades if it happened.

Offaly are good enough to take advantage of a Cork that aren’t tuned in and are a few % off it. I’d be confident enough we won’t see that.

Every team should be treated with respect , we saw with Limerick last year that upsets can happen .
Ben O Connor has generally gone with strong teams for every game in every competition this year. It seems teams are picked from game to game and a casual attitude or a poor performance could put a position at risk for a player. Players in the squad seeing a path for getting into the team and putting pressure on those who have started in recent game is the most effective way of keeping players focused.

An upset is always possible .. but unlikely
In football the 2 pointer has probably helped make shocks more likely
Hurling the best team generally converts sufficient proportion of possession into scores

Pa is typical of the player outside the elitist GAA net, he works hard in a manual job which is early morning 'till late. Many including County Board don't consider the reality when assessing players availability for inter-county level. To play inter-county now one has to be a teacher, a rep or self employed where you are lucky enough to rely on staff, basically a job with plenty time off. He has lost weight I hear and recovered from a serious eye injury last year, now looking forward to championship. His son Jack who is under 11 is doing really well for Ballyhea/Milford U-12's.
